Texas Tall which is the third novel in the Tylers of Texas series penned by Janet Dailey. Now I have read some books by Janet Dailey back in the early 80’s. But have gotten away from reading her books. But when I got the opportunity to read her latest book, I jump at the chance.
Her latest novel Texas Tall was an okay read. It had a nice plot, but if you haven’t read the first book I do advise you do so, just to get the history of the Tylers.
Will Tyler, was on his way home from picking up his daughter, he doesn’t normally like driving at night and on this night it was especially dangerous. For a bulletin come over the radio that a robbery has taken place earlier that day a the person got away on a motorcycle and that the person was armed and dangerous. Will not paying attention to the road, ran over something that punctured his tire. As soon as, Will got out of his vehicle, a person on a motorcycle pulled over. The person was dressed as the bulletin described so acting on instinct he aimed his gun waiting to see what the cyclist was going to do, that is when a simple late night trip turns into an act of self-defense and things for the Tylers become complicated. Because the person that Tyler killed was none other than Stella’s brother, which set the stage of revenge.
Texas Tall had its good points which was the plot of the story, revenge and second chances. But like anything there also was some negative aspect to this story and that was the characters I couldn’t really get into Will and Tori love story. I don’t know if it’s because I come late to the series or if it just how the characters were written. Whatever the case maybe Texas Tall was very intriguing which save the story somewhat.
