Title: Guardian’s Bond

Page Length: 384 pages
Publisher: Carina Press
Publication Date: (March 12, 2018)

Midnight Wolf a fast-paced an exciting ride of cat and mouse.

Midnight Wolf, written by Jennifer Ashley and published under the Berkley Publishing Group brand, was and is an enjoyable read from start to finish. The 11th book in the Shifter Unbound series, won’t disappoint when it comes to romance and second chance at love. Though this would be my first book in this series, I in no way found myself lost in the telling of this story.

In Midnight Wolf, Angus a bouncer at club never expected to be approached or forced to help the Shifter Bureau capture one of his own kind. But forced he was, by the taking of his son Ciaran. Angus must bring in the shifter that has eluded capture up tell now or never see his son again.

The interaction between the two main character was very pleasurable to see in action, that when this reviewer turned the last page it left me wanting more.

It would be my pleasure to start this series from the beginning. I most certainly would recommend this story to any reader whose enjoy their Paranormal Romance to be fun and wild.

Primal desire sets the New York Times bestselling Shifters Unbound series ablaze as two fierce Shifters discover how enticing love can be with the thrill of the chase…

You can’t outrun a hunter like Angus Murray…

The last thing black wolf Shifter Angus Murray wants is to go chasing down some fugitive Shifter woman for Shifter Bureau. But when a Bureau agent threatens Angus’s son, Angus will do anything it takes to track down the elusive Shifter and protect his cub.

For twenty years Tasmin Calloway has been on the run, relying on her street smarts and easy charm to sweet-talk her way out of trouble.  “No.”  Repeating the word over and over, as if that would negate the reality, Kristen walked to the bathroom and turned on the lights. The fluorescent bulbs weren’t needed to highlight what was there.  Her pupils were, indeed, a deep yellow.  The color was framed by her thickened eyebrows.  She swung her hair around and…dear God.  Her hair was at least a foot longer than it had been that very morning.  Her fingers shook as she held a thick section of red hair.

All she saw were the claws.

The scream was primal and Kristen sobbed as she sank to the floor.  Nicholas was there instantly, wrapping his arms around her.

What is happening to me?

He rocked her back and forth, rubbing her back in circular motions.  “Your body is going through a change.”

“No shit, Nicholas.  But why me?  God almighty, I’m waving the freak flag high enough as it is.  Now I’m part animal?”  She held her arms in front of her face.  “I’ve got fucking claws!”

“I know, beautiful.  I’ve seen them.”

“Don’t what?”

“Call me beautiful.  I’m anything but.”

“You’re incredibly beautiful.  Even now, with all the things that are disturbing you so badly.”

“They aren’t disturbing to you?  You spent the night fucking a Lycan, werewolf, whatever and you’re perfectly calm.”  The sobs slowed as she turned to look at him.  “Why is that, Nicholas?”

“Because,” he said as he held out his hand.  Kristen gasped as claws extended from his finger tips.  “I’m a Lycan too.”

Review: Howl For It

Howl for It (The Pride Series) by [Laurenston, Shelly, Eden, Cynthia]

Title: Howl For It| Author: Shelly Larenston | Author: Cynthia Eden

 Series: Pride Series|Genre: Paranormal Romance

Publisher: Kensington | Publication Date: January 30, 2018 | Page Length: 337 pages

They hunger for your pleasure. They growl for your touch. And in these sizzling stories by New York Times bestselling author Shelly Laurenston and Cynthia Eden, these sexy wolf shapeshifters are lust at first bite. . .

Like A Wolf With A Bone Shelly Laurenston

Quiet little Darla Lewis couldn’t be happier when the most-feared member of the South’s rowdiest pack kidnaps her. A girl gets real tired of being overprotected by her own shifter family, and there’s nothing like an oh-so-big bad wolf to start a pack feud, unleash her instincts–and have her surrender however and whenever she wants. . .

Wed Or Dead Cynthia Eden

Gage Ryder knew his human bride had a wild side. But spending their honeymoon night on the run from hunters out to finish him and his pack is sure not the kind of fun he was looking forward to. No problem–Gage will do whatever it takes to lay bare Kayla’s secrets and find the truth. If he can keep from being captured by his own seductive game. . .

Howl For it comprises of two of my favorite authors, Cynthia Eden and Shelly Laurenston. You know when you decide to read a book written by either of this author that you are in store for hours of entertainment. I am happy to say that Howl For It never failed to entertain.

But a fair warning this book was originally released on August 28, 2012, by Bravo.

Book #1:  Like A Wolf With A Bone by Shelly Laurenston. If you read the Pride Series than you may know Dee-Ann. Well, this story is about her parents and how they met. Along with a great story, Shelly Laurenston put her brand of mixing romance with humor. This story was a pleasure and you got to visit with the Lewis and Smith.

Book #2: Wed or Dead was written by Cynthia Eden. This too is a shifter romance. But where Shelly Laurenston entertained us with humor and romance. Cynthia Eden provided us readers with intrigue. It started off with Kayla who only lot in life is to kill paranormal creatures that prey on humans. With her next target being Gage…An alpha of the Vegas pack. The only way she can take him out was by marrying him and then on their wedding night take him out. Or so she thought! She finds out that Gage has a say on the matter.

Both of these stories, though different brought the same reaction…of pure satisfaction of having the pleasure of reading two relaxing stories of humor and intrigue.

Howl for It a solid paranormal romance that all romance fans will enjoy.

Review: Thanks Fur Last Night

Title: Thanks Fur Last Night | Authors: Eve Langlais, Milly Taiden & Kate Baxter

Paperback: 400 pages | Publisher: St. Martin’s Griffin

Publication Date: January 30,2018 | Genre: Paranormal Romance

Enter a world of smoldering shifters in this scintillating anthology headlined by New York Times bestselling authors Eve Langlais and Milly Taiden with brand-new, never published novellas!

Bearing His Sin

Cole should have killed Anja the moment he realized she was his mate. Instead, he let her live and now they’re on the hunt, chasing the morons who think they can force her to marry another man. Like hell. And while this shapeshifting bear might have his share of sins, he’s not going to let little things like murder and mayhem prevent him from having the woman meant to be the keeper of his heart.

Bought by the Bear
Josilyn Martinez just needed the money to help raise her nephew. That’s it. There’s no other reason she would take a job posing as a shifter’s mate so he can assure his grandmother he’s settled down. There’s no reason to stay at his place so they learn “more about each other.” And there’s definitely no good reason she should get involved with the hard, hot, and handsome shifter that’s hired her.

Xander just needs a fake mate for a week to get his grandmother off his back. But what’s a bear shifter to do when the impostor mate he hired turns out to be his actual mate? All sweet, luscious curves and a heart of gold, Xander’s not going to let his mate get away. Now all he has to do is show her that they belong together, one kiss and touch at a time…

The Alpha and I
Devon Kincaid is happy with her new life in Lowman, Idaho. Her little bar on the outskirts of the tiny, isolated town is doing well, and she’s not even interested in finding a man. But when she finds a bleeding man―a hot, hard, handsome, naked bleeding man―in the snow one night, Devon brings him home to care for him. He’s definitely not like any man she’s ever met before, but what she doesn’t realize is that he’s not just a man…

Liam Murphy isn’t simply a werewolf. He’s the Alpha. In a heated battle with a deadly bear shifter, he’s moved his pack to the Sawtooth Wilderness in order to draw danger from them. He was hoping to escape his problems―but the last thing he expects to find in the isolated Idaho wilderness was his mate. Fragile and unfamiliar with the violent supernatural world, the only way he can protect Devon is to make her what he is: a werewolf. He only hopes that in the process convincing her to enter fully into his world, that he doesn’t drive away the one woman he can’t live without.

Three spectacularly paranormal romances comprised in one novel

Thanks Fur Last Night (2018) is an anthology, comprised of three whimsical paranormal novels, published under the St. Martin’s Press imprint. Will undoubtedly keep you entertained.
Bearing His sin, written by Eve Langlais was surely her funniest novel yet. When Cole was hired to kill Anja, he found it very difficult to do, especially when he learned she was his mate. Now, some idiot if after her to marry him. So, Cole does what he does best…. kill morons. This novel was a fun read. With quick banter and hot chemistry between the two main characters. What took this story over the top was the fun-loving grandmother who made this story even better.

Bought by the Bear, written by Milly Taiden, I don’t know much about this author. Nevertheless, this novel she penned for this anthology was certainly a good choice to add. This story was a second chance love with a heartwarming plot. When Josilyn Martinez was willed to raise her nephew after her sister and husband was killed in a freak accident. She was determined to keep that promise. But her messing divorce have left her struggle with finances, and if she doesn’t come up with enough money she just might lose custody of her nephew. So, when she had the chance to pose as a shifter mate to Xander, she jumped at the chance.
Xander has a problem. He must find a mate before his grandmother arrives. He knows that she worried about him settling down. So, he hires an agency to find him a fake mate, just long enough to put his grandmother’s mind at ease. But he was never expecting for them to find Josilyn…. who turns out to be his true mate. Now, he must make her realize that they belong together.
This story was a quick solid read. With a mystery to be solved. The characters and the plot were well thought out. The only downside was the cheesy ending. But overall a nice story overall.
The Alpha and I, written by Bate Baxter, another new author for me. Who brought the tale of a second chance at love story to life. This was another solid story that has Devon finding love where she least expected. Driving home in a blizzard after closing her small-town bar, she never expected on the drive home to come across a naked bleeding man – in the snow. She later learns that Liam Murphy wasn’t like any other male she ever met.
Liam Murphy wasn’t your ordinary werewolf, he was the Alpha whose pack is under attack by a deadly bear shifter out on revenge against Liam. The last thing he expects was to find his mate in an isolated town. Now, that he found his mate. Liam must convince her that she belongs in his world, while trying to keep her safe. Because, the bear shifter who was out to kill Liam has now picked up Devon scent.
All three stories were a joy to read. Which never happens in anthologies. Normal I find only one, maybe two stories. But, to find three delightful enjoyable stories was a surprise.
Thanks Fur Last Night will provide hours of entertainment to those who love to read paranormal romance.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!

Review: Heart of the Wolf (Heart of the Wolf #1)

Heart of the Wolf by [Spear, Terry]

Title: Heart of the Wolf | Author: Terry Spear | Series: Heart of the Wolf #1

Print Length: 403 pages | Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca| Genre: Paranormal

Publication Date: January 2, 2018  | First Published: April 1, 2008

Mass Market Paperback, 10th anniversary edition

Danger, intrigue, and forbidden love in a wolf shifter world so compelling, you’ll swear it’s real life…

Bella, a female red werewolf, was adopted by a pack of gray wolves as a pup. Now grown up, the alpha of the pack tries to make her his mate against her will—Bella knows she has no choice but to run away.

She makes her way as a lone wolf until childhood friend, Devlyn, comes to bring her home. On their journey back, they get tangled in up in unimaginable danger and must apprehend a werewolf murderer while keeping their identity secret from humans. The chemistry between them sizzles like never before…but they both know if they mate, Devlyn will have to fight the pack’s wicked alpha…and it’s a fight to the death.

As a companion to Bella and Devlyn’s story, this edition includes an exclusive, brand new novella that brings the story of the lupus garou family full circle.

Two stories with one destiny. Heart of the Wolf written by Terry Spear is book #1 in the Heart of the Wolf series. It was first published on April 1, 2008, with a different cover. It all began with Bella being a sole survivor of the fire that wiped out her entire pack. Found as a young pup, she was adopted into a pack where the Alpha was vicious and become a threat to Bella well-being. After the last attack by the Alpha, Bella escapes, to live a life as a lone wolf. Until one day a grey wolf appears to bring her back into the fold.

In the second story, we learn that Bella wasn’t the only one to have escaped the fire. Her sister Sabine too escaped but also under the misconception that she was the only one who made it out alive. Until, one day coming home from work to learn that her roommate left but not before draining her bank account. Now on the hunt on the scoundrel who absconded with her life savings. But before she does, she needs to take care of one thing that was to sell her family land. Instead of finding her land abandon, she finds the land occupied by grey wolves and soon learns that her sister may not only be alive but married to the packs Alpha.

Heart of the Wolf was not one of Terry Spears better works. Bella and Dylan’s story were too convoluted to be believable. All through the story, I was questioning Dylan’s masculinity, even after the story has ended I am still wondering how did he become the Alpha.  Too, you must solve a murder mystery, where it is later learned that a rogue shifter is going around murdering human females, who compellingly resembles Bella.  Out of the two stories I think that Sabina story was the better out of the two stories, it wasn’t too convoluted a truly great PNR romance. In my opinion, the two stories shouldn’t have been encompassed into one story.

Sold by: Penguin Random House Publisher Services | Genre: Paranormal Romance

But Nathan, a rare daywalker, possesses other, even more explosive secrets, as does his beautiful new medic, Vladlena. The one thing they can’t conceal is the lust that simmers between them . . .

Now, in an underworld divided by revelry and violence, debauchery and vengeance, Nate and Lena will discover which risks are worth taking—and which desires demand surrender . . .

Vampire Fight Club by Larissa Ione which was previously published in Supernatural is a dark paranormal romance about violence that hits too close to home forces Vladlena Paskelkov… a shapeshifter and underworld nurse undercover.
Even though Vampire Fight Club was short, only 88 pages, a novella really. But it sure packed a punch. The banter between Vladlena and Nate was the highlight of this story, it certainly made up for the lack of romance.

Series: Arctic Brotherhood #6

They are the Arctic Brotherhood.

Vigo Durand agrees to lead the team against the most feared werewolf the world has ever known, but dark secrets from his past are threatening to catch up with him.

Amber Merova has been on the run for the last five years ago. When she meets Vigo, her werewolf mating impulse almost overwhelms her human instinct for survival. Almost. Feisty, determined, and hostile, Amber initially turns down Vigo’s offer to stay with the Brotherhood. When it looks like the men who murdered her pack have caught up with her, she has no choice but to take his offer of protection.

The 6th and final book in the Arctic Brotherhood has arrived. Before our two main characters would see their happily ever after, they first must take down the God who started it all the drama in the first place.
Fenrir the Norse God of destruction is still determined to destroy the world. But not if the Arctic Brotherhood can stop him first.
Wolf Leader was a fast pace, paranormal romance that I thought ended well. This what books that I did read will make a good collection for fans of paranormal, were shifter romance.

Pack Alpha (Were Chronicles #1)

Genre: Paranormal

Publisher: Totally Bound Publishing

Publication Date: August 23rd, 2016

Series: Were Chronicles #1

Print Length: 171 pages

Characters: Gage, Marissa

Golden starGolden starGolden starGolden starGolden star

Book one in the Were Chronicles series.

Marissa Boyd finds herself drawn into a world she can never be a part of, complete with an Alpha wolf who takes whatever he wants. And he wants her.

Marissa Boyd knows, as a non-shifter, she doesn’t belong in Pack territory. She braves a visit to attend her sister’s mating ceremony and meets the shifter who will change her entire life and beliefs.

Gage Wolf knows Marissa is hiding a pained past. As Alpha, he’s used to protecting his Pack. Marissa challenges his authority like no one he’s ever met before. His desire to claim her is strong and his wolf won’t be denied. He’ll have her as his mate even if he has to fight to teach her the meaning of belonging to an Alpha. Even if it is Marissa’s feelings of not being good enough for him that he must battle.

This book was first published on April 20th, 2009. But when it comes to reading a paranormal romance about were-shifters and strong Alpha men, I am all in. And with a doubt Pack Alpha the first book in a 15-part series, written by Crissy Smith didn’t disappoint this reader.

Marissa wasn’t thrown out of her pack more so that she was driven to leave. See, Marissa was a non-shifter and to her old pack that wasn’t heard of. Driven out of her pack, to allow her sister to thrive, Marissa didn’t know any other life except the one she was shown. So, what a surprise, while attending her sister’s mating ceremony and meets the shifter who will change her outlook on life.

Gage Wolf is used to defending his pack. And when his wolf sets his eyes on Marissa, his wolf won’t be denied even if it’s because of Marissa thinking that she’s protecting him.

There new attraction for each other would be put to the test when a visit from Marissa old pack members attends the mating ceremony.

Pack Alpha was a short read but packed a lot in that short time frame. A great book and an excellent start to a series.

Andreas brings out the deepest hunger in Kari, a sexy, passionate side of herself she never knew was there. And her new life as werewolf queen is turning out to be surprisingly emotional in other ways, as well. The bond she feels with Andreas extends to the others in the pack—others she’s now bound to defend.

And as the pack’s enemies are about to discover, Kari will do anything to protect her new family.

My Review:

I didn’t start reading books by Lauren Dane until last year. When I saw she had a new title I job on the chance to read her latest title Wolf’s Ascension which I notice was previously published under a different title, but the good thing was I never read the previous title so all was good. So was Wolf’s Ascension. Kari didn’t think her life could get any stranger. First being attacked by a wild dog, waking up in a hospital being told that she was attacked but she didn’t have signs of being attacked by a wild dog. Next she is abducted by her doctor and waking up again at a house at an unknown location and being told that during the next full moon she was going to shift into a werewolf. What would a sane girl think when she was also told that she was some man’s alpha bitch. Either she has gone crazy are these people are escapees from an insane asylum and that she must escape. Try us she must she made it as far as the road leading to civilization when she was picked up by a kind civilian, just to be returned to the place she has escaped from.

Wolf Ascension was truly good book that will have you laughing for sure. The attraction between Andreas and Kari was hot and the plotline very interesting. If you like a good were-shifter book, Wolf Ascension by Lauren Dane would be one of the titles I recommend reading.

Worth the Risk (Miami Scorcher Series Book 2)

One man is getting in the way of her revenge . . . her mate.

Werewolf Marisol Cabrera has one goal in life: kill the man who murdered her entire pack. When she meets alpha werewolf Stephan and realizes he’s her mate, all her carefully laid plans dissipate in seconds. By all accounts, she should hate Stephan and everything he stands for. After all, he’s a dirty arms dealer doing business with her mortal enemy. Unfortunately, every time the dominating wolf gets close, she can’t deny her growing attraction for the last man in the world she expected to want.

But things aren’t what they seem. . .

Undercover DEA agent Stephan Lazos is about to make the biggest bust of his career, but everything that can go wrong, does. He never expected to discover his mate while on the job. She saves his life and his cover when he almost shifts in the middle of a crowded Miami nightclub, but that doesn’t mean he trusts her. The clock is ticking and if he doesn’t figure out what secrets the sexy she-wolf is keeping from him, he might not just lose his job, but his life in the process.

My Review: Savannah Stuart has done it again. I had the opportunity to read Worth the Risk; well it’s also Worth the Read. The description doesn’t do this book justice.

Marisol Cabrera was on a mission that was to kill the man who murdered her entire pack.

Stephan Lazos too was on a mission to take down a man who the DEA thinks is smuggling drugs, at the nightclub for where the meeting was taking place, he finds his mate. It wasn’t a good time when he was in a middle of a sting operation, but when his protection for his mate takes front row seat will his mission be a failure or will both succeed on their secret mission.

Worth the Risk was an excellent book from start to finish; now I can’t wait to read her next book. The connection between these two was hot that it singed my fingers, or it could be my kindle is malfunctioning.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Worth the Risk was previously published elsewhere. It has been revised and edited.
