The Seduction of Emily
by Rachel Brimble
Genre: Victorian Romance
Seduction is a wicked game, and no one plays it better than the devilish Will
Samson in Rachel Brimble’s captivating new novel. . .

Since girlhood, Emily Darson has accepted that she will marry Nicholas, the
son of her father’s trusted business partner. The marriage contract
safeguards her family legacy, Emily’s fortune, and everything she
values–except her independence. Only when a sinfully handsome
scoundrel enters her life does Emily realize quite how much a
loveless match will cost her.
Will Samson has advanced from expert pickpocket to confidence trickster of
the highest caliber. Now he has come to Bath to exact vengeance on
the man who destroyed his mother–the man Emily will soon marry. But
from his first glimpse of the enemy’s bewitching, spirited fiancée,
Will’s plan changes.
Amid the ballrooms and salons of elegant society, heated glances explode
into scandalous kisses. Revenge is sweet, but surrender will be
irresistible. . .
Laura Robinson has always been dazzled by the glamour of the stage. But
perhaps acting and selling one’s favors are not so different—for
Laura must feign pleasure with the men she beds to survive. Now, with
her only friend at death’s door and a ruthless pimp at her heels,
escaping her occupation seems impossible. Hoping to attract a
gentleman, she attends the theater. Yet the man Laura captivates is
no customer, but a rising star and playwright. . .

From country girl to actress of the stage, one woman dares to live her
dreams—but is she brave enough to open her heart. . .?

Monica Danes always wanted more than the village of Biddlestone had to
offer. After a failed courtship to a man of her parents’ choosing,
she fled for the city of Bath and never looked back. Today, Monica is
the undisputed queen of the theater—a wealthy, independent woman.
But when she is called home in the wake of tragedy, Monica
returns—intending to leave again as soon as possible.
Thomas Ashby has been a groom at the Danes estate since he was a boy—and
has been enamored with Monica for almost as long. He knows he isn’t a
suitable match for his master’s daughter, despite the special bond he
and Monica have always shared—and their undeniable attraction. But
now that she’s returned, Thomas has one last chance to prove himself
worthy—and to show Monica a life, and a love, she won’t want to
give up. . .
Jane Charlotte Danes has loved the squire of her idyllic country town for
as long as she can remember. He is good, kind, and alluring beyond
words… and he chose to marry another. Tired of dwelling on her
futile longings, Jane plans a move to Bath, where she dreams of a new
beginning. But the man who has so imprisoned her heart is only a few
steps behind…

He Can’t Let Her Go…
Until now, Matthew Cleaves has endeavored to meet the responsibilities of
his position with dignity and good spirits–including his dutiful
marriage. But when his wife leaves him for another man, Matthew is at
last free to pursue his one true love. Only one vital question
remains: will the captivating, stubborn, beautiful Jane allow him the
challenge, and the pleasure, of winning her back?..

WHEN THE BEAST WITH A HEART OF GOLD

Everything changed for Jasper Benedict, the Earl of Ailesbury, the night his family died in a tragic fire—the same fire that left him disfigured. Now, his scars have given him the name the Beast of Faversham. But when he stumbles upon a damaged carriage during a tempest, the beautiful woman inside reminds him of the man he wishes he could be: free of his past, and able to love.

TAMES A BEAUTY WITH A WICKED PAST

When her carriage breaks down outside Faversham Abbey, this is just the most recent in a long series of misadventures for Miss Adeline Price. Her beauty hides a fatal flaw: she’s quick to judge, and rarely looks beneath the surface. But the longer she’s around Jasper, the more she begins to want to be better—someone deserving of him.

But when it comes time to reunite Adeline with her family in London, will Jasper believe that she sees not his scars, but the good, honorable man he is?

Short Excerpt:

“I am the Earl of Ailesbury,” he called, the words fighting the noise of the storm at his back. “My home is only a short distance away. You may seek shelter there.” Her almond-shaped, hazel eyes inspected him from his hidden face and down the length of his body. Jasper hadn’t felt laid bare before another his entire life. Was she leery enough of him to refuse his offer? As if on cue, a wolf howled in the near distance, its call echoing above the whine of the storm. Within moments, several others answered.

A widow scarred by love and loss…

After years spent following her husband as he fought against Napoleon’s troops, Lady Lettie Hughes returns to London a widow to take her rightful place among the ton as the daughter of an earl. Her parents and friends expect her to enter the Marriage Market and secure the match she should have pursued in her debut Season. But Lettie is not the same innocent girl she was before Waterloo. Nightmares of the battlefield plague her, and she doesn’t see a place for herself in society anymore.

A lord determined to save the woman he loves…

Daniel Greaves, the Duke of Linwood, is a man who knows rejection and loss. He’s lived the last six years alone, after the woman he was betrothed to cast him aside for another man. Instead of taking control of his title and lands, Daniel fell into a life a debauchery—gaming, women, and spirits. But now the woman who stole his future and left him hollow is back in London.

When Lettie and Daniel are reunited, their connect burns as bright as it once did. But neither of them are the same people they were in their youth—they must trust one another to heal the wounds of their past to find a love that lasts forever.

Lord of Chance (Rogues to Riches, #1)

Lord of Chance (Rogues to Riches Book 1) by [Ridley, Erica]Lord of Chance by Erica Ridley

My rating: Golden starGolden starGolden starGolden starGolden star

Publisher: WebMotion

Publication Date: April 11, 2017

Print Length: 232 pages

Even though Lord of Chance was a Regency Romance. Erica Ridley tackled a serious issue. That of gambling addiction. Anthony Fairfax, supported his family by his luck at the tables. But it seems his luck has turned when his, supposed to be best friend bought up his debt and now Anthony only was a couple of weeks to come up with two thousand pounds or face going to debtor’s prison. His luck seems to change again when he spotted lady luck across the room. Everything seems to go his way until again that fickle lady had opted to abandon him again. Or did she?
Charlotte Devon had her own problems, the only person she has to rely on is her mother, because of who she was, Charlotte didn’t have any friends growing up. To correct how her life was going, Charlotte is on a mission to find her long-lost father, and hopefully, his name would open doors. But like Anthony, everything wasn’t going her way. She couldn’t locate her father no matter how hard she tried and without even trying to, she gains a husband.
Lord of Chance was a good read from beginning to end. When it came to character development you didn’t have to ask yourself did these characters grow and how? Erica Ridley basically answered all the questions for you, leaving you to enjoy a nice Cinderella story.

The Duke (Victorian Rebels, #4)

cooltext193647157308664

Genre: Historical Romance

Publisher: St. Martin’s Paperbacks

Publication Date: February 7, 2017

Series: Victorian Rebels #4

Print Length: 384 pages

Characters: Collin, Imogen

Golden star

He’s noble. notorious. And takes no prisoners…

Strong as a Viking. Handsome as Adonis. Rich as Midas. Collin “Cole” Talmage, Duke of Trewyth, is the stuff that legends are made of. He’s the English Empire’s golden son–until fate has its way with him. Cole’s family is killed and his closest comrade betrays him on the battlefield, leaving him gravely injured. But Cole is not one to dwell on misfortune. He is a man of duty, honor–and desire. And now he’s ready for the fight of his lifetime…
Imogen Pritchard is a beautiful lass who works in a hospital by day and as a serving maid at night. Years ago, when she was young and penniless, she ended up spending a scandalous night with Cole, whose tormented soul was matched only by his earth-shattering passion. Imogen entered a marriage of convenience—one that left her a wealthy widow—but she never forgot Cole. Now that her long-lost lover has turned up in her hospital, injured and with no memory of her, Imogen is torn: Is it a blessing or a curse that their past remains a secret to Cole, even as his new passion for her leaves him wanting to protect and possess her…at all costs, in The Duke, the next Victorian Rebels novel by Kerrigan Byrne.

I don’t know it was just something about this book that I couldn’t really get into the characters. It was interesting at the beginning but somewhere in the second chapter, it went downhill, and never really recover until I turned the last page. That was back in December. I decided to give the book another go, and maybe just maybe something would change. I found that it was the two main characters.

Colin is blaming the world because of his missing body part and Imogen always the victim. I thought that sooner or later the characters would come to know that you and only you can change your destiny or life as it may. But with the lack of character development comes the lack of knowledge on the characters.

Even though this was part of a series book #4 of Victorian Rebels. The Duke can be read as a stand-alone. I never read any of Kerrigan Byrne other books. I might just have to give this book a third read after reading the other books in this series.
