#1 USA Today and New York Times bestselling author Maya Banks continues her suspenseful and sizzling Slow Burn series with the fifth book featuring the men and women of Devereaux Security Services.

Abducted as a young girl and raised in a strict religious cult, Jenna has no connection to the outside world beyond vague flashes of memory that seem to be from another life. Memories she clings to when the cult leaders discover her extraordinary ability to heal—and punish her. Years held captive and forced to do the cult’s bidding have turned Jenna into a meek, timid woman…or so they think. In truth, she is merely biding her time, waiting for the perfect moment to escape.

When a terrified young woman stumbles across Isaac’s path, Devereaux Security’s toughest recruit is intrigued by the beautiful, sheltered stranger. Jenna seems to know nothing of the world around her and refuses to tell him what danger haunts her, but Isaac will do whatever it takes to gain her trust. When it becomes clear that very powerful, dangerous people are after her, he vows to protect her at all costs… because with just one touch Issac knows he wants Jenna to be his—forever.

If you love to read supernatural, paranormal romance then you’re in luck. Maya Banks has a book just up your alley. It’s titled Just One Touch it’s the fifth book in her Slow Burn series. I read two others in this series, besides this one. So, picking this series back up I didn’t feel I was missing anything. Therefore, stand-alone this could be considered. But…you know there is always a but! But, I will still advise if you can, to read this story in order of publication. So, of course, I am going to take my own advice and purchase the others in this series.
Just One Touch is due for publication on May 23, 2017. This book is about 256 pages long. And if you read the previous titles, you will glad to know that those characters too, find themselves making an appearance.
Just One Touch was a quick read from beginning to end. With well-developed plot and strong characters that complement each other.
I found that I did enjoy this book significantly. There is a huge difference between the way she writes her action adventure and her paranormal/Supernatural titles. The big difference is there is more interaction between the characters in her paranormal titles than in her action adventure type titles.
Just One Touch I would recommend to paranormal/Supernatural readers. Or even to the readers that just is looking for something different.

After reconnecting, Remy and Triana are close—very. Remy struggles to keep things casual. Ever since his partner—and first love—was killed on the job, he’s kept women at a distance.

But when a mysterious wolf pendant ropes them both into danger, Remy’s protective instincts kick in. He may have to reveal his true self…and hope Triana accepts him.

Second chance at love, and renewing old friendships. Wolf Hunt tells the story of Remy Boudreaux another Alpha of the Dallas SWAT team. Remy and his fellow SWAT team are in New Orleans on assistance training assignment. One tantalizing scent latter Remy is on a spiral like none other. But after a mission went wrong and his lover was killed, Remy wanted nothing to do with love. But, Remy has no choice when he found “The One” person who would make his life complete.
Wolf Hunt was okay, right on par with all the other titles in this series. Only a slight difference there are some people who know that werewolves exist and will stop at nothing to become one. Wolf Hunt is a good action adventure/Paranormal romance. This was a very mild romance compare to her other titles in this series. So, I guess that is another slight difference. But all in all, a great sixth book.

Hunt the Dawn (Fatal Dreams, #2)

Series: Fatal Dream #2

Print Length: 352 page

Characters: Lathan, Evanee

Out of darkness and danger…

You can’t hide your secrets from Lathan Montgomery—he can read your darkest memories. And while his special abilities are invaluable in the FBI’s hunt for a serial killer, he has no way to avoid the pain that brings him. Until he is drawn to courageous, down-on-her-luck Evanee Brown and finds himself able to offer her something he’s never offered another human being: himself.

Dawns a unique and powerful love

Nightmares are nothing new to Evanee Brown. But once she meets Lathan, they plummet into the realm of the macabre. Murder victims are reaching from beyond the grave to give Evanee evidence that could help Lathan bring a terrifying killer to justice. Together, they could forge an indomitable partnership to thwart violence, abuse, and death—if they survive the forces that seek to tear them apart.

There might be a mix bag on who likes the book or who could have done without. But this reviewer is in the category of the ones who likes the book.

Hunt the Dawn written by Abbie Roads has taken the phrase “I See Dead People” to a whole new level. In the second installment in her Fatal Dream series, we’re introduced to two special people who are connect by more than sharing the same zip code, by more than the attraction they have for each other. They are connected by their ability to apprehend a Serial Killer.  With Lathan ability to receive images by smell and Evanee’s gift to bring things back from the dream world. These two make up a heck of a team.

The phrase that came to mind after completing this book was “When they met it was Murder”. Yes, I was a big fan of Heart to Heart. When Lathan is out to stop a serial killer, he didn’t have any time to find love, especially being the way he was. But one night on his way home, he witnesses a woman being harassed, there was something special about the woman that he rushed to her assistance, and everything from there changed for him and especially for Evanee.

Evanee had a terrible childhood. A childhood that no child of five should have endured. Now a woman, she still putting up with the same harassment. Until one day a hero intervened and in Evanee’s eyes no matter how different Lathan was, he would always be her champion.

I loved this book better than Race The Darness. I don’t know…it was just something about these two that drew me in. Maybe it was the prejudices that these two had to face and overcome. Whatever, the case maybe this book is a must read.

Note: Even though this is book #2 in the Fatal Dream Series, Hunt the Dawn can be read as a stand-alone.

Wolf Unleashed (SWAT Book 5)

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Print Length: 352 pages

Series: SWAT #5

Publisher: Sourcebook Casablanca

Publication Date: December 6th 2016

Characters: Alex, Lacey

Golden starGolden starGolden starGolden starGolden star

Lacey Barton can’t deny her crazy attraction to Alex Trevino, but that doesn’t mean she has time for the gorgeous SWAT officer. She’s hell-bent on discovering who’s behind the brutal dogfights sending countless mauled animals to her veterinarian office. The trail leads Lacey to a ring of vicious drug dealers and suddenly she’s in way over her head-right smack in the middle of a SWAT stakeout.

With Lacey in danger, Alex’s wolf side is unleashed. But when she witnesses Alex shift, she’s even more terrified… Now it’s up to Alex to crack the case-and earn back Lacey’s trust and, ultimately, her heart.

I really, really, really, am enjoying this series. Wolf Unleashed is the 5th book in the Swat: Special Wolf Alpha Team Series. With this book and like the others in the series. It all starts out on how Alex become a wolf in the first place; In the first ten pages, you know that you were in for a fantastic ride.

Mauled dogs were being brought into Lacey veterinarian clinic, and Lacey will stop at nothing to find out whom the person or persons were and put a stop to the brutality. However, during her investigations it turns up that the ring is in more than just dogfights, which put Lacey on the hit list of the ring and the influential person who funds them.

Being a dog lover myself this book tugged on my hearts strings and by the end I was totally cheering for when the villains were apprehended. These 352 pages of tremendous storytelling will have you begging for more.

What I adore the must about this series, would be that all the characters from the prior books are always front and center. So, that you constantly are made aware about the happenings of the past characters.  Therefore, I think that to get the full entertainment value of A Wolf Unleashed you should start this series from the beginning.

My Tempting Highlander (Highland Hearts #3)

Cursed to live forever with neither wife nor child, Ronan Sutherland has watched all he cherishes turn to dust—more than once. For hundreds of years, he’s been trapped behind the mists of Loch Ness, hoping to identify the one woman who is prophesied to break the spell. Now, at last, the fates have aligned, and he’s being sent into the future to fetch her. After a single glimpse, Ronan knows he’s been waiting all his life for this passionate woman.

Unlike her time-traveling sisters, Mairi Sinclair is perfectly content to remain in the present. As a hospital nurse in Edinburgh, she cherishes the opportunity to put her gift of healing powers to good use. But everything changes the morning a mysterious wolf darts in front of her car. Touching the wounded creature’s tawny coat, a tingle surges through her. Yet when she returns with aid, Mairi is shocked to find instead a man with broad shoulders and fire in his eyes—a man who tempts her to unleash the animal within.

My Review: Normally like to start a new series when it first comes out. However, My Tempting Highlander was the right time for me. Also it had the fill of this movie that I watched it carried the same theme, only different being is in the movie it was two star-crossed lovers. The women turns into an eagle by day and the man turns into a wolf at night.

In My Tempting Highlander, it was mother and son who were cursed and it was up to Mairi Sinclair to help the Sutherland’s to overcome the curse.

This was an enjoyable read from start to end. I will recommend this book for readers who like paranormal romance with time travel as a bonus.
