M. Cassidy—Luke Brodie had heard the name before, some novice bounty hunter working Seattle, catching tricky skips with more success than a newcomer should expect. But the dark curls, sparkly top, and impressive cleavage were not what Brodie had pictured.

Emma Cassidy is tough and smart and sexy as hell. She’s also popping up a step ahead of him every time he’s close to the capture he wants most . . . and there’s no room for learning on the trail of this monster.

Emma has idolized Luke Brodie, the bounty hunter who can bring anyone in. The big man in the soft shoes, with a face like a fallen angel and a reputation for breaking hearts. Watching him in action is intoxicating. But her fight with Rudy Vance is fiercely personal. If he gets too close, Brodie will find out just how ferocious she can be . . .

Into the Firestorm is the 3rd book in the BOSS, Inc series, penned by Kat Martin. I thought it was the best out of the series so far. The reason, the plot, the plot, the plot. Not to say that I am easy, but when an author can hold my attention longer than a chapter, then I know that I am in it for the remainder of the book.

Emma Cassidy didn’t want to become a bounty hunter, it was forced upon her. When her young niece was raped and the same man attempted to do it again. Emma decided to take the law into her own hands to bring the man to justice. But, to do so, she must outwit the top bounty hunter Luke Brodie.

Into the Firestorm was an enjoyable book from the beginning, middle, and end. This book is a keeper. A must read for readers who like strong female characters who can go toe to toe with a strong dominating alpha male.

Devil’s Mark (The Devil’s Keepers #2)

Series: Devil’s Keeper #2

Print Length: 193 pages

Characters: Killian, Holly

Golden starGolden starGolden star

The bestselling author of Devil’s Honor returns with a deliciously sinful novel about a good girl who goes bad—and the notorious Louisiana biker who can’t resist the lure of forbidden fruit.

Holly Chambless is tired of being the squeaky-clean daughter of Lagrange’s holier-than-thou mayor. When her father is charged with corruption, she realizes that her whole life’s been a lie. Now’s her chance to do all the things she never dared, like scoring a job at a bar where reputations go to die, or reconnecting with the biker who sparked a secret hunger in her all those years ago, Holly isn’t a wide-eyed girl anymore—and this time she wants a taste of what has always been denied.

Killian “Uptown” Chenier has no time for stuck-up princesses. He likes fast bikes and wild sex. Sure, he remembers Holly. He sent her running with a wicked smile and a lesson about prying eyes. And sure, she’s grown up smoking-hot, with a body he’d like to personally desecrate. But Devil’s Keepers business is real and intense. Her daddy stole from the club, leaving his pretty blonde daughter a walking target. And when Uptown takes aim at what he wants, he never misses.

So, I like this book better than the first. In many ways, this book had what Devil’s Honor didn’t…romance. Devil’s Mark is book #2 in The Devil’s Keepers Series. it was still hard to connect with the characters. The storyline had a steady pace, but the characters needed more development than what the length of the book provided. Other than the lack of character development the story was engaging.

But since surviving captivity, he’s a changed man—and a crucial member of ARES Security. When he discovers a dead man clutching a picture of Mia that bears a threatening message, his fiercest protective instincts kick in, and he knows he must go to her.

Mia has never forgiven Lucas for breaking her heart, and she’s convinced her feelings for him are in the past. But it’s soon clear that isn’t true for either of them. Now, determined to solve the crime and keep Mia safe, with his ARES buddies backing him up, Lucas will have to reconstruct the murder victim’s last days—and follow a lethal trail that leads right back to the fate of the woman he still loves…

Whereas Kill Without Mercy had me enthralled to see what happens next Kill Without Shame not so much. All through the book I felt that I read this book before. I knew who the culprit was before the person was introduced, and I knew why. The story flowed at a nice pace and the character like in the previous book was developed nicely too. But the mystery behind the attacks on Mia, wasn’t a big secret for me.

Kill Without Shame…if you haven’t read the first book Kill Without Mercy, it’s not a big deal…this title could be read as a standalone without a reading getting lost. But you might want to sooner or later to take advantage of the full entertainment value of the series.

Even though this book didn’t meet the high-quality standards of the first book. I am hoping to finish ARES Security series to see where Alexander Ivy is planning to go with it.

I also know there is one story I want to read about and that might just be the story that might make reading this series worth wild.

Golden starGolden starGolden starGolden starGolden star

Kia is a dream Chase has not allowed himself to entertain. Now that he has her, it’s her heart he’s after and he’s determined to win it, no matter the cost. And even though they both agreed that it would only be for pleasure, a feeling deeper than all-consuming lust and illicit pleasure has taken hold of them…

Being estranged from a family member would be hard on a person, but it’s even worse when he was your twin. Chase has gone through a lot and to finally get his twin back, just to almost loose him again, took a toll on any personal relationships that he decides to have with any women.

Now that he finally got Kia, even though they both came to the decision that it’s only for the pleasure, came to ahead in the 2nd part of Only Pleasure, when an unknown enemy of Chase elects that attacking Kia was the way to get to Chase.

Whereas, Only Pleasure Part 1 was about the pleasure… Part 2 is about the emotional entanglement that Kia and Chase would have to face to determine if it’s only about the pleasure.

Again, this book ended in a perfect spot, and the development of Kia Chase relationship was more felt than it was in the 1st part.

Sinful pleasure and forbidden desire rule in the first part of #1 bestselling author Lora Leigh’s novel Only Pleasure, previously published in trade paperback and now exclusively in ebook format.
Since Chase Falladay came to her rescue two years ago, Kia Stanton has never been able to forget the powerful man or the kind of life he leads. So two years later when she runs into Chase and his friend, Khalid, and leaves with them that night, she knows exactly where it is all heading. However, little prepares her for the smoldering pleasure she feels in the arms of two men. After years of holding back, Kia is finally able to find freedom…as Chase and Khalid possess her body with forbidden sensations…

When it comes to doing anything, there is always a first. With Lora Leigh latest title Pleasure, which comes in three parts, but still give you the inflammable romance that you come to know from Lora Leigh. In Pleasure Part #1 it just the introduction to the main couple, the trouble of turmoil of Kia Stanton.  when she made, it known that her husband was a member of the BDSM club and that he and another member almost force themselves on her. It was up to Chase Falladay to get the club out of the public eye.

Now two years later after a nasty divorce and her reputation in ruins. Now, after years of denying herself, Kia is finally able to find freedom.

The 1st segment of Only Pleasure was a great introduction to the main characters. You didn’t have to wait long before Chase and Kia acted on their feelings.

This book has it pros and con. The pro was it ended just like a cliffhanger, it gave you time to digest what you read, also since I was reading this close to bed time anyway, I felt it ended perfectly. The con is I don’t like cliffhangers. That is the only trouble I had with this book. But then again maybe it wasn’t a problem with the book and just a problem with me having time management issues.

Going Deep (Alpha Ops, #5)

Characters: Conn, Cady

Golden starGolden starGolden starGolden star

After weeks on a sold-out tour, singer Cady Ward is coming home for the holidays. But after one too many episodes of fan-craziness, Cady’s manager decides that she needs protection—in the form of muscled cop Conn McCormick. Longing for peace and quiet to prepare before her next album drops, Cady doesn’t need a bodyguard just to deal with some vague email threats…though she can’t deny that close proximity to Conn’s body is a very nice place to be.

Conn is in the midst of a career scandal when his boss assigns him to pop-star guard duty. It’s a poor use of his skills, even though Cady’s feisty nature proves the perfect distraction for Conn while Internal Affairs investigates his case. What begins as a sizzling attraction becomes something deeper than either Conn or Cady could have expected. But when Conn uncovers the sinister plan behind the threats to Cady, he’s faced with a professional dilemma: To save her life, will he risk having a future with the only woman who’s ever touched his soul?

Going Deep is the 5th book, in the Alpha Ops Series penned by Anne Calhoun. I can say without a doubt that this book can be read as a standalone.

Going Deep was a romantic suspense like non-other. It was in fact the first romantic suspense that I’ve read that had a moral to the story. Based on reading only one other book in this series. I would have to pick this one as my favorite.
