Jordan: New Orleans Magic is the first part of a three-part series penned by Rebecca York. It’s a paranormal romantic suspense.

Somebody is slaughtering supporters of Camille DuPree. Camille’s restaurant. Presently to protect her benefactors she employed a security organization. In any case, unbeknownst to Camille her past and present intersect when her old flame comes entering back into her life.

This book I couldn’t get into. I liked the puzzle, the character’s not really. Indeed, even the purpose for their separation had a Romeo and Juliet plot just with a more joyful closure. The plot was well developed. However, again the characters required somewhat more work.

#1 USA Today and New York Times bestselling author Maya Banks continues her suspenseful and sizzling Slow Burn series with the fifth book featuring the men and women of Devereaux Security Services.

Abducted as a young girl and raised in a strict religious cult, Jenna has no connection to the outside world beyond vague flashes of memory that seem to be from another life. Memories she clings to when the cult leaders discover her extraordinary ability to heal—and punish her. Years held captive and forced to do the cult’s bidding have turned Jenna into a meek, timid woman…or so they think. In truth, she is merely biding her time, waiting for the perfect moment to escape.

When a terrified young woman stumbles across Isaac’s path, Devereaux Security’s toughest recruit is intrigued by the beautiful, sheltered stranger. Jenna seems to know nothing of the world around her and refuses to tell him what danger haunts her, but Isaac will do whatever it takes to gain her trust. When it becomes clear that very powerful, dangerous people are after her, he vows to protect her at all costs… because with just one touch Issac knows he wants Jenna to be his—forever.

If you love to read supernatural, paranormal romance then you’re in luck. Maya Banks has a book just up your alley. It’s titled Just One Touch it’s the fifth book in her Slow Burn series. I read two others in this series, besides this one. So, picking this series back up I didn’t feel I was missing anything. Therefore, stand-alone this could be considered. But…you know there is always a but! But, I will still advise if you can, to read this story in order of publication. So, of course, I am going to take my own advice and purchase the others in this series.
Just One Touch is due for publication on May 23, 2017. This book is about 256 pages long. And if you read the previous titles, you will glad to know that those characters too, find themselves making an appearance.
Just One Touch was a quick read from beginning to end. With well-developed plot and strong characters that complement each other.
I found that I did enjoy this book significantly. There is a huge difference between the way she writes her action adventure and her paranormal/Supernatural titles. The big difference is there is more interaction between the characters in her paranormal titles than in her action adventure type titles.
Just One Touch I would recommend to paranormal/Supernatural readers. Or even to the readers that just is looking for something different.

Talen (Dark Protectors, #7.76)

Talen by Rebecca Zanetti

My rating:

I have been a blogger for just about three years now. 😊 It has been a journey to come this far. Thank you, everyone, who’s following my blog from the conception. But as life has shown us. It’s forever changing and evolving. So, like life…I too must evolve. To begin this transformation, I will start with the way I rate my books. Nothing too huge. For even though life changes, I am only human, and as such, don’t really care for change.

But I am doing away with the plain looking stars. Yep, gone and forever shall we part. Out with the old in with the new. Yearwood La Novela is going animated. Thus, depending on how great the book was, will depend on what the animation shall be. To implement this modification. I thought that Talen should be the perfect book to do the big reveal.

Again, thanks to all my old followers and hello new ones. On to the book review.

She’ll love him forever . . . but he can’t make her obey . . .

The war is over. Danger has passed. Cara Kayrs is healed after decades of illness and ready for a break.

Too bad her brooding, alpha vampire husband can’t seem to change gears. In their twenty-five years, together Talen Kayrs has learned to sense every shiver of her body, to ignite her desire with a word or a look. She would think he could learn she’s not some fragile damsel in distress.

But Talen is on edge, watching their backs, treating her like she’s made of glass. Like there’s something following them, a deadly threat that somehow none of their intelligence has uncovered. It’s enough to drive a woman crazy, and Talen has plenty of those tendencies already.

But what’s even more maddening is that he seems to be right . . .

Never think something is ever complete. As author knows that when a character speaks to you, it must be time to write their story. Well, Talen and Cara spoke to Rebecca Zanetti. Their journey wasn’t finished like we thought.  We see that it has been twenty-fives years that Talen and Cara have been married. That they’re happily married with two adult children and one adorable grandchild. What we also see, is Talen being Talen. That’s right…you would think that after twenty-five years and there’s peace among demons that Talen would stop being over protective. Nope! And like Talen is found saying “I have lived over a decade, to know that peace is short lived.” Not a perfect quote, but you see what I mean. But later you would understand that Talen is never wrong. Because no sooner, then they leave the house demons are hot on their trail. And their mission is to capture Cara.
It is not too often, that authors revisit old characters, and we as readers get to see our beloved characters once more and to see how they’re faring. You would think once that character or characters story has been told that its the end of it. But it’s nice to know, we can never assume anything.

Like in their original story, Talen is again a badass, out to prove that he is still nothing to mess with….in war or peace time. And when it comes to protecting Cara he would do absolutely anything.

For Talen to be a short novella, it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with Talen and Cara all over again. I think this might be true for you.

I found this book to a dream of a book. Therefore, I thought…why not an Angel. In the comments below tell me what you think about the new changes.

A Cascadia Wolves novella

Megan Warden, Seattle’s devoted Enforcer of the Cascadia pack, knows that she has a mate. Somewhere. She’s just never found him. Then there he is at her cousin’s wedding. Megan isn’t just drawn to the werewolf’s masculine, head-spinning scent – she’s consumed by it. He seems so perfect, there has to be a catch…

With a successful practice in Las Vegas, Dr. Shane Rosario has lived outside the pack since he was born. Raised to hide his wolf in shame, he always assumed he’d marry a human.

Until Megan. Shane thrills to the ease with which she wears her wolf, and he craves ever inch of her. But the idea of forever could be impossible. He’s not willing to abandon his human life – even for a mate.

Something’s got to give. Because this time, even destiny may not be enough to bind them.

Lauren Dane didn’t waste any time in getting directly into the action. In Bonded Pair, Megan had to put up with a lot, traveling with her family to a wedding, to meeting her mate who had serious issues.
Shane was a successful doctor, who by right was a werewolf. Growing up he had to hide what he was to appease his mother. Not knowing what he was missing until he met his mate. But even meeting his mate didn’t solve years of abuse by his mother. Yes, Shane had mommy issues. If he can’t stop deny who and what he is, he will lose the best thing that ever happened to him.
Bonded Pair was fast passed and didn’t skimp on the romance. It had a strong character development to the point that you could relate to the struggle these two had to go through to be together.

Enforcer John Nelson has pulled double duty for months, keeping an eye on the Lone Wolves who are his charges as well as those that once answered to Margo Montgomery. More of a loner than most, he doesn’t mind going months at a time without seeing another Enforcer as was his typical pattern or at least it was until the formation of the Three Rivers pack disrupted lives everywhere. Now he must divide his time between watching the upstarts and checking on his charges while working with the other Enforcers to anticipate the next move by the Russian Volchitsa. No Enforcer expected to find themselves among the hunted, but when they target the one wolf he can tolerate, John defies orders to go after her.

Hadley Sexton is a bit of a wild card even for an Enforcer, and she loves being unpredictable. More of a mother hen than she likes to admit, she keeps an eye on her Lone Wolves, and treats them more like family than charges…but when three Enforcers are brutally murdered over the course of three weeks, Hadley discovers someone has been shadowing her trail and they aren’t alone. It is a dangerous game with a brutal enemy, one willing to kill the wolves she’s sworn to protect to draw her out.

In this story, we find that the Russians Volchitsa are trying to eliminate all the Enforcers, by capturing and killing the lone wolves. So, we have Hadley Sexton rounding up all the loan wolves that she is responsible for to try to keep them safe. But is anyone truly safe? When the Russian Volchitsa locates Hadley’s safe house, the war is on to try to relocate the lone wolves.
When John Nelson was unable to reach Hadley, he takes on the mission to locate her. Already three enforcers were killed, will he be on time to save Hadley or will she be number four.
Thunder Wolf book #11 in Heather Long “Wolves of Willow Bend” series. With great characters and a cameo appearance by all the other characters from the prior books in this series. This story was fast pace, which fits right in with the other titles in the series.
If you haven’t read any of the previous titles in the series, then you must to at least familiarize yourself with the plot before trying to dive into this book. You would absolutely thank yourself for doing so.

Characters: Blaze, Valerie

Blaze Knight has been through hell and back, but the nightmares aren’t over yet.

Five years after Blaze was maimed by Cyrus Chimola, a powerful vampire with a penchant for torture, he’s still trying to pick up the pieces of his shattered life. As a genetically engineered mercenary with the ability to bend fire to his will and to see in infrared, Blaze’s mission is to protect what’s left of humanity. When Chimola and his crew return to the Bronx gunning for Blaze’s blood, Blaze is forced to face the demons of his past. Hell-bent on revenge, he seeks the help of Valerie Medeiros, an NYPD detective who manages to steal his heart and save his life in more ways than one.

Motivated by her sister’s gruesome death, Valerie has made it her life’s goal to bury every vampire in the ground where they belong. When she brings in Blaze Knight for suspected murder, she discovers he’s not only innocent, he isn’t a man at all-he’s a half-vampire hybrid working with a band of brothers for the U.S. military. Valerie has a hard time trusting anything with fangs, yet she quickly falls headlong into Blaze’s life, a life full of darkness and horror she can’t even begin to fathom. The bodies are stacking up, but Valerie can’t seem to let go of this hybrid, a beautiful monster filled with pain, rage, and passion, unlike anything she’s ever known.

In a world where the line between good and evil is blurred, Blaze and Valerie will find danger at every turn, risking everything they’ve come to know and love, including one another.

This was my lucky weekend to date this year. Why, because I found another author to add to my list of excellent writers to feed my hungry for everything paranormal; vampire romance specifically.
The book Releasing the Demons book one in L.D. Rose The Order of the Senary), I just proved to myself that you can’t judge a book by its cover. By looking at the cover, I wouldn’t have known the mystery that awaited me. I would certainly have passed the book up. But, since the second book in this series was recommended I thought I start the series of by reading the first. And if that holds my attention then I would read the other.
Let me start off…I am going to read the second book. L.D. Rose has written a compelling tale that starts with a new type of Vampire. Hybrid Vampires that were born in a lab and was never to be learned about. In Releasing the Demons, we that learned that knowledge isn’t always a good thing to have. It makes people do foolish things. Take for instance New York, the once thriving state has now been destroyed by the knowledge that blood sucking leeches were living among them. But, instead of destroying the vampires it seems that the enemy they were trying to eliminate just thrived in the destruction that man have caused. Now, with New York overrun with Vampires, the government decided to open a new type of police force. This police force is only to investigate and eliminate the threat to mankind.
And that is how the story of Releasing the Demons began. Valerie has a history with the enemy she was hired to exterminate. The vampires took someone she loved. And with the pain, she was determined to make sure no one else had to suffer the same loss. With that, the coldness grew and she made it her life mission to personal mission to make sure it became a reality. But Valerie soon will come to realize that not all vampires were out to make humans a full fledge three-course meal. That there are those vampires, like Blaze Knight and his brothers, who work secretly to bring those out to destroy humankind to Vampire justice.
I could go on and on about his book, and with it being 306 pages of extremely well thought out plotline and characters that you certainly would fall in love with. I would recommend that if you are looking for a good vampire romance that you can sink your teeth into, Releasing the Demons is that book. With action packed and a love story that will leave you wanting to know more about these brothers and what makes them tick. Then pick up a copy today, and make those boring days disappear, at least as long as it takes you to complete Releasing the Demons (The Order of the Senary #1).

So, to the person who recommended this series, and you know who you are. Thank you.

From the moment American Sabrina Sullivan sets foot on the new dig site with her Irish archaeologist husband, a destructive brew of natural and supernatural forces conspires to break their bond. The most destructive force of all is the inexplicable sexual energy relentlessly pulsing between her and her new boss—her husband’s best friend—making her want things she shouldn’t. When her marriage begins to crack, Sabrina is faced with the most difficult choice of her life—reach across the chasm of mistakes to hold on to the man she loved enough to marry or forge a new life with the man who has been hers forever.

This was my first time every reading a Sophia Ryan novel. So, I went into reading Only Forever only knowing that the description sounded interesting. I got past the first chapter everything was going fine. Then I got past the second chapter with me all on board. Only Forever was a hot journey from discovering that no matter if an ocean separates you from the one person you were mint for, that fate or destiny will always find some way to bring you together. But, not before they have a little fun with you first.

As young children, they both were told that their soulmate was out there. One was told that a blue light was their destiny and the other was told they future lies in Ireland. So, the story opens with American Sabrina Sullivan blissfully married to her Irish archaeologist husband. Now, nothing could split them apart because but what the oracle told her has finally come true. Or did it. It only took one millisecond, just a touch really to figure out that yes, the Oracle was correct that she would find her soulmate. However, the man that she married wasn’t he.

Only Forever, was a hot read from beginning to end. The plotline captures you with the tale of two lost souls destined for each other, but where reasonability and metaphoric ideas collide.

I like that Only Forever, presenting me with the chance to immerse myself in my not so realistic beliefs for the few hours it took me to complete. After reading, I don’t know who I was sorrier for; the husband, Sabrina or both. It’s a hard choice to make, deciding for the known or take a leap of faith and go with the unknown. I can tell you though it was a pleasure to see how the story unfolded.
