Five weeks ago Carly Drake stood at her grandfather’s grave. Now she’s burying Drake Trucking’s top driver, and the cops have no leads on the hijacking or murder. Faced with bankruptcy, phone threats and the fear of failure, Carly has to team up with the last man she wants to owe—Lincoln Cain.

Cain is magnetic, powerful, controlling—and hiding more than one secret. He promised Carly’s granddad he’d protect her. The old man took a chance on him when he was nothing but a kid with a record, and now he’s the multi-millionaire owner of a rival firm.

But Linc’s money can’t protect Carly from the men who’ll do anything to shut her down, or the secrets behind Drake Trucking. If she won’t sell out, the only way to keep her safe is to keep her close . . . and fight like hell.

Beyond Reason is a third persona story composed by Kat Martin. The setting was disheartening since the opening happens at a memorial service. One of Drake’s workers was murder and the truck commandeered. Do the police have a thought who the offenders were, or do they even truly mind. Thus, the obligation is dependent upon Carly to discover. With the assistance of a companion of her granddad. Carly and Linc go on a high-octane ride to discover who, and why of this riddle.

For a puzzle anticipation Beyond Reason was an alright read. I particularly appreciated the result of this story. I haven’t perused an excessive number of books by Kat Martin. Be that as it may, I may need to keep my eyes out for the second book in this new Texas Trilogy. Because I see with regards to mystery and suspense she knows how to catch a person attention.

Theodore Bosco, grieving the death of his partner, is reluctantly fascinated by secretive newcomer Jules. Although his instincts scream that he should avoid her, he can’t seem to stay away. It doesn’t help that Theo’s new K9 companion, Viggy, has fallen head over paws with Jules’s rambunctious family.

Or that when he’s with Jules, Theo finally knows peace.

When Jules kidnapped her siblings, whisking them away from abuse to the quiet anonymity of the Colorado Rockies, she never expected to catch the eye-or the heart-of a cop. All it would take is one wrong move and she’ll lose everything. Yet as Jules attempts to fight her growing attraction to the brooding K9 officer, another deadly threat lurks much closer to home. Someone’s gunning for Theo and Viggy, and they’re willing to take out anything…or anyone…who gets in the way of revenge.

Depression is difficult to tally, but depression takes the measurable form of one contemplating or commenting suicide. “Although suicide can’t be predicted or prevented knowing the warning signs can help you recognize when you or a loved one may be at risk” Depression and Suicide: Recognizing the Signs. (n.d.). Retrieved from http://www.webmd.com/depression/depre…

In Run To Ground, the 1st title in Katie Ruggle new series “Rocky Mountain K9 Unit” We see the after effects of depression/suicide.

Theodore lost his best friend, and partner. He too almost lost his will to live. Until the force assigned him a new partner. And when Jules life is jeopardy from a unknown person out to kill her, it would be up to Theo and Viggy to uncover the plot.

Run To Ground may carry a heavy message, but it was fairly light-hearted in the telling. The character grew on me after the first Chapter. I couldn’t turn the page fast enough to find out who the unknown person was and the reason for going after Jules.
Run To Ground may carry a heavy message, but it was fairly light-hearted in the telling. It was a compelling story that will have you anxiously waiting for the next installment. Especially with the huge cliffhanger at the end.

For Gabriel, the FBI is just a painful memory. His new team of motorheads may work for the Feds undercover, but they’re nothing like the backstabbers and bureaucrats he left behind. Hunting drug dealers and smugglers in Miami gets him the adrenaline rush he wants and the justice he needs. All that’s missing is the seal on the badge—and Nikki, his sexy ex-partner.

Until she shows up at his garage, wearing short shorts and a look that spells trouble. Nikki has never forgotten the heartbreak Gabriel left her with last time. Even if she can’t have him, she still has to work with him. There’s a homegrown terrorist recruiting military vets to a cult of fear and deception, and they all have roots in Miami.

It will take Gabriel and all the Classic Rides crew to stop a catastrophe. But in close quarters with sparks flying, it’s only a matter of time before the old flame ignites . . .

Chase is book three of the Hot Rides series penned by Sidney Bristol. I don’t know, if I would have read the series in order, if that would have made a difference on my review. However, I found Chase not so enjoyable. The pace of the story was to slow for my liking. The two characters I just could get into them.  Only part I really got into was the last few chapters.

I might go back and start this series from the beginning to see if that would change my outlook in this story.

Lucas St. Clair’s prestigious family had a political future neatly planned out for him—one that didn’t include his high school sweetheart, Mia Ramon. Under their pressure, Lucas gave her up. But since surviving captivity, he’s a changed man—and a crucial member of ARES Security. When he discovers a dead man clutching a picture of Mia that bears a threatening message, his fiercest protective instincts kick in, and he knows he must go to her.

Mia has never forgiven Lucas for breaking her heart, and she’s convinced her feelings for him are in the past. But it’s soon clear that isn’t true for either of them. Now, determined to solve the crime and keep Mia safe, with his ARES buddies backing him up, Lucas will have to reconstruct the murder victim’s last days—and follow a lethal trail that leads right back to the fate of the woman he still loves…

Whereas Kill Without Mercy had me enthralled to see what happens next Kill Without Shame not so much. All through the book I felt that I read this book before. I knew who the culprit was before the person was introduced, and I knew why. The story flowed at a nice pace and the character like in the previous book was developed nicely too. But the mystery behind the attacks on Mia, wasn’t a big secret for me.

Kill Without Shame…if you haven’t read the first book Kill Without Mercy, it’s not a big deal…this title could be read as a standalone without a reading getting lost. But you might want to sooner or later to take advantage of the full entertainment value of the series.

Even though this book didn’t meet the high-quality standards of the first book. I am hoping to finish ARES Security series to see where Alexander Ivy is planning to go with it.

I also know there is one story I want to read about and that might just be the story that might make reading this series worth wild.

The Wilde brothers are addicted to the rush of adventure. But one of them is about to discover that it’s sink or swim, when passion and politics collide…

Whitewater rafting guide Sawyer Wilde has taken his share of inexperienced adventure seekers through the rapids of Idaho’s Salmon River, so his next group should pose no problems—even if it includes a presidential hopeful and his sexy, outspoken aide. After all, it’s just a campaign photo-op for the congressman. Until a series of minor mishaps takes a sinister turn…

Devin Lockhart has one job on the rafting trip: to make her boss look both presidential and relatable. And no matter how distractingly attractive their guide is, she plans to do it well. But as danger stalks them through every bend in the river, Devin must put her life—and the congressman’s—in Sawyer’s capable hands. Because surviving the trip is only the beginning of a deadly ride…

Wilde Ride is the second book in the Born to be Wilde series penned by Jannine Gallant. This book is 250 pages long, with developed characters. Though the story started out interesting, then somewhere between Devin and Sawyer meeting is when I notice that I was skimming the remaining pages.

However, if you like realistic characters and love adventure stories, then you might want to check this one out. Otherwise, this story just wasn’t my cup of tea.

With her hallmark blend of sparkling style and wit, intricate suspense, and steamy passion, Jayne Ann Krentz is truly one of a kind. One of today’s premier storytellers, she has more than twenty-three million copies of her novels in print. Now the phenomenal New York Times bestselling author spins her latest scintillating tale: a story of two people bound together by that most binding of ties–a business contract.

Elizabeth Cabot is all business. She knows how to maximize her investments and cut her losses–in both her career and her personal life.

So when she discovers that Jack Fairfax has deceived her, she’s determined to end their relationship. Putting a stop to their budding romance is easy. But breaking up their business deal will be more difficult. Despite all her efforts, she has no luck disentangling herself from Jack’s client company, Excalibur. But the situation becomes even more strained when a new obstacle emerges: a lethal act of sabotage that could put both of them out of business for good.

Elizabeth is no fool. If she can help Jack save Excalibur, she’ll recoup her substantial investment plus millions in profit. Putting her emotions aside, she insists on helping him search for the scientist who’s disappeared with a valuable new crystal that could revolutionize the high-tech industry. She’ll go in, solve the problem–and get out.

The trail leads Elizabeth and Jack to a fringe film festival, but their goal is as elusive as the shadowy black-and-white images from classic noir films. Life starts to imitate art, and double-dealing seems to be the name of the game. For these business adversaries turned reluctant partners, keeping an eye on each other–and the lid on a sizzling attraction–seems the only insurance against further treachery. But with millions at stake, trust can turn to betrayal in the blink of an eye.

Soft Focus had a good blend of intrigue and romance bundle into 352 pages of greatness. Ever wanted a book were the female character isn’t weak, doesn’t really need the male character to always save her every other pages. Then Jayne Anne Krentz has written that book. Elizabeth Cabot was a strong person in business and it cared over into her personal life. Know how to calculate the odds on the spur of the moment. She’s like the gamble who knows how to hold and how to walk away. If you don’t believe me, you could as Jack Fairfax he has the first-hand knowledge

Jack Fairfax helps companies to maximize their abilities to avoid hostile take overs and as CEO of Excalibur it was his duty to get “Soft Focus” back from the scientist who stole it. Soft Focus has the reader submerge in the Noir theme where people and things is not what they seem.

I periodically read the Arcane Society rather than Jayne Ann Krentz mystery suspense, but as the story progressed I found I really enjoyed Soft Focus for every time I looked a new twist was added.

Daisy had an ordinary life like all teenagers until witnessing the killing of her mother. Since that day Daisy refused or couldn’t leave the house. Being trapped wasn’t so bad though, she made a perfect life inside those four walls. A beautiful gym that any man would envy, and a business selling antiques over the internet. Her life was good if you look past her having agoraphobia.

Everything was great until one night of insomnia had her witnessing a terrible crime for which her perfect life was forever changed.

With this being the last book in the series, this reviewer tried to hold on to this series as long as possible, not wanting to say goodbye to these characters. But all good things must end.

In Safe Hands picks up right where Gone Too Deep ended. With the huge reveal of the murderer, we all wondered what is next besides capturing the slayer. Well, leave it to Katie Ruggle to come up with a huge twist.

What terrible secret was the Sheriff of Simpson harboring to put him on the path of murder? How did these murders link to the body found in the reservoir? All of these questions and a few more shall be answered by the conclusion of this series.

With all the characters we met along the way, coming together to solve the big mystery of Why kill the recluse of Simpson.
