Elite McTiernay guardsman Hamish MacBrieve is looking for a clean start. But when his brother, laird of Foinaven Castle, leaves the family holdings dangerously unprotected, Hamish has no choice but to return and keep his clansmen safe. And when he does, he discovers that Foinaven’s painful memories have been replaced by the most distracting opportunity for passion.
When Mairead MacMhathain learns that the eldest MacBrieve is returning home, she imagines he’ll bring salvation in the form of a powerful army. Instead, the hulking, powerful man she idolized as a girl arrives alone. But now instead of a little sister, Hamish sees her as the woman she has become. And under his heated gaze, despite the danger swirling around them, Mairead finds herself tempted, taunted, and tantalizingly seduced…

Michele Sinclair has written an intriguing world of honor, second chances, and Highlander intrigue. Never Kiss A Highlander is book #6 in The McTiernys’ saga.
This would be my first book and title by Michele Sinclair. I didn’t know this was part of a series. So, these books can be read as a stand-alone to the rest of the titles.

This book was slow in some places but really picked up its paces towards the end. The chemistry between Hamish and Mairead was okay. I will chalk this story up as a feel-good story with a twist of intrigue to make it interesting.

But if you’re a big fan of highlander romance, this would be one for your shelves.

Praise for The McTiernays!

The Murrays are back in this thrilling new tale from New York Times bestselling author Hannah Howell . . .
Responsible for protecting her younger siblings from their abusive father, Bethoc Matheson is in no position to rescue another soul in Scotland. Yet when she sees a bleeding man on the verge of drowning, that’s exactly what she does, securing him safely in a cave where she can return day after day to tend to his wounds.

Sir Callum MacMillan can scarcely believe such a slight lass as Bethoc could save him from the grasp of death. But he knows the telltale marks of an angry fist on her skin, and he knows she has the soul of a fighter within her feminine frame. Raised to be a protector of the weak by his Murray clansmen, Callum would prefer to be the one saving her—and save her, he will. If he can first survive the treacherous attack that led him into her irresistible arms . . .

Out of all Hannah Howell’s books, I really enjoy reading about the Murrays the most. I don’t know what it is about the Murrays but each and every book I think is a must read for every hardcore romance reader.

In Hannah Howell latest book, we are introduced to Sir Callum MacMillan. If you have follow the series, you know that Callum MacMillan grew up hard, until the day his grandfather found him .

All through Callum’s life, he had to fight to survive, and protect to protect those that were helpless to do so themselves. Now the shoe is on the other foot.

Bethoc Matteson can’t take any more of the abuse she receives at home. If she didn’t have responsibility of protecting yer young siblings, she would have walked away a long time ago. But as it stands she was trapped. Or so she thought….

Highland Chieftain rates right up there with the other books in this series…excellent. It was fast pace, well developed characters and plenty of passion between the two main characters.

If you ever read this series, you know that each Murray has a special gift. What until you find out what Bethoc gift is…I can say that its very unique.

Highland Temptation (Highland Knights #3)

cooltext192496212069469 Golden starGolden starGolden starGolden starGolden star

When Lady Emilia Buchanan discovers that her despicable father has been scheming against the crown, she turns to the Highland Knights for protection—and retribution. Spirited away to a safe house on the outskirts of London, Emilia is surprised to find herself sharing close quarters with a soft-spoken, musclebound Highlander. Before long, curiosity gives way to an alarming attraction. Emilia has learned firsthand from her father that men are not to be trusted. She just never met one so honorable and loyal, so powerful and, yes, tempting.

Ever since Waterloo, Colin Stirling has struggled with memories that haunt him night and day. Driven near to madness, he no longer trusts himself with meaningful relationships of any kind. At least in this temporary sanctuary, Colin can withdraw from the world—that is, until his stunningly gorgeous charge learns the full depth of his pain. In Emilia, Colin sees a kindred spirit with battle scars of her own. He also senses a chance to heal . . . and to find love.

Highland Temptation is the third book in Jennifer Haymore Highland Knights series and as such can be read as a standalone.

I have to say if the other book in this series is this good I must try to catch up. In Highland Temptation Lady Emilia Buchanan is running for her life. You would assumethat it was a stranger she was trying to escape from. However, its someone she should have been able to trust implicitly…her own father.

Lady Emilia knew that her father was up to know good and she found the evidence to prove that her father was plotting to over throw the crown. Not knowing whom to trust, Emilia turned to the Highland Knights for protection or one certain Knight…Colin Stirling. Colin used to guard her father and now she needs him to protect her.

Highland Temptation was a wonderful story full of intrigue and hot romance. So far, out of all the Highland romance I read this summer, I must say that Jennifer Haymore’s Highland Knights series was one of the best.

What I relished about this story was that both Colin and Emilia were broken. Colin from the stretch he done in the military and Emilia from her home life. And only relying on each other were they able to conquer their demons.

If you enjoy historical romance with emphasis on romance, then you would definitely enjoy Highland Temptation by Jennifer Haymore.

The Fearless Highlander (Highland Defender #1)

Heir to the most notorious clan in the Highlands, Hugh MacIain hides his identity while imprisoned in the bowels of Fort William’s hell. Aye, this braw warrior has endured horrors that should have seen him dead, though now it appears it’s the bloody flux that will send him to Satan’s fire. Optimistic, competent, and captivating, Charlotte Hill takes pity on the fevered prisoner sprawled atop a cot in the fort’s surgery. When finally the Highlander opens his eyes, he seizes her heart with a pained stare. Truly, this is no commoner—but in 1692, a warrior loyal to the Jacobite cause and the daughter of a government colonel may as well be worlds apart. After his escape, Hugh snatches his chance to woo the lass, until disaster strikes. While war and lust for vengeance force Charlotte further from Hugh’s arms, the couple’s romance seems aimlessly adrift on the open sea. Before they sail too far apart, can the tender love of an English lady coax a determined Highlander from his path of revenge?

My Review: The Fearless Highlander is a historical romance set in 1692 Scotland. Amy Jarecki gives as her rendition of the Scottish turmoil, tragedies and betrayals at Fort William.

Hugh MacIain a prisoner of circumstances who’s at death door is healed by Charlotte Hill his enemy daughter. As Hugh spends time with Charlotte, he comes to find that even though she’s the daughter of the Colonel she doesn’t always agree with her father.

Our hero and heroine are forced to put aside personal allegiances and to overcome numerous obstacles.

I’ve only read one other book by Amy Jarecki (Highland Knight of Rapture) which I was basing this story to follow not part of that series but the overall tone of the book. Whereas, Highland Knight of Rapture was more about the romance of the two main characters…The Fearless Highlander was about the plight or history of that time period. Even though to me the romance took a back sit in The Fearless Highlander, trying to intertwine romance in a time period where romance was not a foregone conclusion is never easy.

So I Married a Highlander (What Happens In Scotland Book 2)

A Lady’s Rules of Etiquette When Eloping:

1. A lady should never leave a note behind explaining her intentions.

2. If by chance a note has been left behind, a lady must prepare to be hunted down and the ceremony thwarted.

3. In such a case, seeking consolation with a night of excessive drinking will be tempting, but ill advised.

4. And lastly, a lady must never, under any
circumstances, wake up manacled to a deliciously handsome Highlander.

Lady Evelyn Alexander has managed to break all four rules in the space of an evening—and the tall, virile Highlander she accidentally married is only the beginning. Her fiancé has also mysteriously gone missing and the threat of scandal is hot on their heels…

Alec McAllister has no use for a wife, but when he wakes up entwined with the lovely and spirited Evelyn, he’s willing to reconsider. He’ll help her find her fiancé, but when the passions ignite between them, it’s only a matter of time before the Highlander claims what’s his…

My Review: In So I Married a Highlander the second book in What Happens In Scotland series. Kate McKinley takes a on a fun journey on what happens when you put a willful English Miss with a Scottish gentleman.

Lady Evelyn Alexander the sister of a Duke, waited until her brother and his wife was away to run off to get married. It was a simple plan, go to the highlands to get married arriving back to England all before her brother could find out and stop her. However, you know what they say “The best laid plans of nice and men oft go astray” one thing after another went wrong. When they arrived, it was like McDonald’s drive thru at the local blacksmith, so what is a woman to do, when in a rush. She goes to on a haunt looking for another blacksmith. And that is when So I Married a Highlander went on a warp speed in the romance department.

So I Married a Highlander was a fun, short and emotional story. That will leave you wanting more. I really enjoy the story and the banter between Alec and Evelyn was entertaining. The only negative thing I could find is the story was too short.

But as the days turn to weeks, they both begin to see what a happily-ever-after could be. And when the time comes, does Brianagh return to the life she’s built, or does she remain in the past for a chance at true love?

My Review: With The Winter Laird (Mists of Fate #1) Nancy Scanlon takes as on a whole new journey about Lairds and the woman who loves them. In The Winter Laird there was a prophecy told about a girl child that would have the ability to travel through time. Well The Winter Laird is the telling of Brianagh O’Rourke a happy matchmaker that finds happiness for others even though her love life is not so great. On the day that she reluctantly accepts her boyfriend marriage proposal, Brianagh decides to go on vacation with her cousin. Unbeknown to her it would be a vacation like no other.

Laird Nioclas MacWilliam time has come to marry, and the bride that he choose when he was no more than a child has yet to make an appearance, so he reluctantly offers to marry another. But on the eve of his wedding, Nioclas and his clan has to make a daring rescue that brings him the bride that he offer for, and with the discovery of who she was and her ability brings forth old enemies namely Nioclas father and his father’s allies.

The Winter Laird is a fantastic book that takes as on so many journeys to the past and back again. Nancy Scanlon wrote an excellent tale with characters and secondary characters that you hated to see the book end. I know that I hated to see the book end because now I have to wait to see what happened to Nioclas’ brother.

Highland Knight of Rapture

Where have I been, that I never read the beginning this fantastic series. I had the pleasure of reading Highland Knight of Rapture (Highland Dynasty Book 4) by Amy Jarecki. This book was off the charts. It had action, adventure and romance, let not forget the romance. After five years of marriage, Lady Helen has failed to produce a suitable heir; a suitable heir in her husband eyes was a son. So her husband rejects her and openly takes a lover while she endures in silence.

My Take: This book was beyond great. It was exceptional. The heroin Lady Helen was a strong women, even in the time were ladies are rarely seen as strong. She became even more so in her dealings with her husband when Sir Eoin MacGregor steps in. Sir Eoin was Helen longtime friend and unbeknownst to her, he has always been secretly in love with her. Noticing the mistreatment that she has been taking by her husband….he becomes the Knight that he was, champion the one that he loves and the child that he was willing to claim us his own. After reading this book it made me go purchase the other three in the series. I just have to say good job Amy Jarecki.
