To escape exile, Aidan Paytah has had to prove himself worthy. Every second of every damn day. He fought with everything he had to earn his precarious place on the Huracán team of dragon shifter enforcers. He can’t fail or afford distractions, no matter how temptingly sweet. Total loyalty to the clans and dedication to his team is the only way.

Sera Morrison lost her parents and her husband in short order, leaving her a single mother running her family winery alone. Nothing could ever have prepared her for the discovery that she’s a destined dragon mate. But once she finds out, there’s only one man she wants—the one who walks away.

However, the Alliance Council has its own agenda. They want to use her as a political pawn and force a mating that could ultimately kill her to save the High King. Aidan has no choice but to kidnap her, even if it means their close proximity reinforces their own mating bond. And mating with him could end up being a far worse fate for Sera…

Aiden is an orphan, one that should have been killed when his parents died, but with determination, proven himself worthy of being on the Huracan team if dragon enforcers. Now that he made it there is just one person, he wants to share the news with…Sera.

She thought the danger was over, but when a fierce blaze consumed her house with her child inside, set by a dragon. But why would one stalk her, what did it want. The only thing she could figure was because she knew they exist. Now that her life and the life of her son is in jeopardy she must run and run far. But Aiden and the other persuaded her to stay, long enough for them to hunt down the rogue dragon an eliminate him.

I’ve read the first book in this series, though I didn’t enjoy this as much as The Boss.  The mystery wasn’t really a mystery of who was stalking Sera, it was too apparent once the character was introduced. After the person was revealed, I didn’t have that gratification in knowing I solved the mystery, instead, I had this trepidation, the heartache that I knew was coming

All in all, The Rookie was a good PNR. It just didn’t live up to the first book. But I can’t wait for the next book in this series, I am hoping its Drake’s book.

About Abigail Owen

Abigail grew up consuming books and exploring the world through her writing. She attempted to find a practical career related to her favorite pastime by earning a degree in English Rhetoric (Technical Writing). However, she swiftly discovered that writing without imagination is not nearly as fun as writing with it. No matter the genre, she loves to write feisty heroines, sexy heroes who deserve them, and a cast of lovable characters to surround them (and maybe get their own stories).
