With her hallmark blend of sparkling style and wit, intricate suspense, and steamy passion, Jayne Ann Krentz is truly one of a kind. One of today’s premier storytellers, she has more than twenty-three million copies of her novels in print. Now the phenomenal New York Times bestselling author spins her latest scintillating tale: a story of two people bound together by that most binding of ties–a business contract.

Elizabeth Cabot is all business. She knows how to maximize her investments and cut her losses–in both her career and her personal life.

So when she discovers that Jack Fairfax has deceived her, she’s determined to end their relationship. Putting a stop to their budding romance is easy. But breaking up their business deal will be more difficult. Despite all her efforts, she has no luck disentangling herself from Jack’s client company, Excalibur. But the situation becomes even more strained when a new obstacle emerges: a lethal act of sabotage that could put both of them out of business for good.

Elizabeth is no fool. If she can help Jack save Excalibur, she’ll recoup her substantial investment plus millions in profit. Putting her emotions aside, she insists on helping him search for the scientist who’s disappeared with a valuable new crystal that could revolutionize the high-tech industry. She’ll go in, solve the problem–and get out.

The trail leads Elizabeth and Jack to a fringe film festival, but their goal is as elusive as the shadowy black-and-white images from classic noir films. Life starts to imitate art, and double-dealing seems to be the name of the game. For these business adversaries turned reluctant partners, keeping an eye on each other–and the lid on a sizzling attraction–seems the only insurance against further treachery. But with millions at stake, trust can turn to betrayal in the blink of an eye.

Soft Focus had a good blend of intrigue and romance bundle into 352 pages of greatness. Ever wanted a book were the female character isn’t weak, doesn’t really need the male character to always save her every other pages. Then Jayne Anne Krentz has written that book. Elizabeth Cabot was a strong person in business and it cared over into her personal life. Know how to calculate the odds on the spur of the moment. She’s like the gamble who knows how to hold and how to walk away. If you don’t believe me, you could as Jack Fairfax he has the first-hand knowledge

Jack Fairfax helps companies to maximize their abilities to avoid hostile take overs and as CEO of Excalibur it was his duty to get “Soft Focus” back from the scientist who stole it. Soft Focus has the reader submerge in the Noir theme where people and things is not what they seem.

I periodically read the Arcane Society rather than Jayne Ann Krentz mystery suspense, but as the story progressed I found I really enjoyed Soft Focus for every time I looked a new twist was added.

My Seductive Highlander (Highland Hearts #4)

cooltext192496212069469 Golden starGolden starGolden starGolden star

In this scintillating novel from the author of My Tempting Highlander (“Another exciting and heartwarming time-travel romance.”—Vonnie Davis), the ladies’ man of Loch Ness meets a hot-tempered lass who sets his heart aflame.

Though part of a legacy of time-traveling sisters, Lilia Sinclair is planted firmly in twenty-first-century Edinburgh. Her granny’s matchmaking with thirteenth-century Highlanders isn’t about to lure her into the past, especially as ancient Scotland enters troubled times. After all, Lilia is blessed—or cursed—with dire prophetic visions. To protect herself, she’s put up an icy emotional wall no man could cross—until a pair of gorgeous, rippling arms breaks right through.

Graham MacTavish is pure trouble. Once the dragon bound to Loch Ness, he’s transformed into a philanderer of the first order. In fact, because of his dalliances with other men’s wives, a rival clan wants his head on a pike. Before he provokes an all-out war, Graham is banished to the twenty-first century, where he must win Lilia’s hand—or return to die. But after meeting a lass as fierce as any Highland warrior, Graham knows one thing: life with Lilia, in any century, is a fate to embrace.

My Seductive Highlander is the fourth and finale story in Maeve Greyson’s Highland Heart series. The story alternates between thirteenth century Scotland and present time.

In My Seductive Highlander we get the story of Graham MacTavish if you read My Tempting Highlander you would know that Graham was the dragon who was tied to protect Roan. Well the curse was broken and now Graham has a lot of leaving to do. Well, that philanderer has got him in a world of trouble. One of the Lords who didn’t appreciate Graham sleeping with his wife is now after his head.

So, to avoid an all-out war among the clans, Graham has been vanished to the twenty-first century, where if he wants to live in harmony with his head still attached to his body he must get Lilia the last Sinclair daughter to marry him.

This story reminded me a little, of the movie The Little Mermaid. Ariel had to get the Princes to fall in love with her so she could stay a human.

Well the difference was Graham was happy with his life…the way it was now and wasn’t looking for a wife. But he was glad to protect Lilia from herself and the gift she has…that makes living in twenty-first century uncomfortable but makes living in 13th century Scotland a terrifying.

My Seductive Highlander like the rest of the titles in the series would be a fantastic read for readers who loves Science Fiction  and Historical romance

Safe from Harm (Protect and Serve #2)

cooltext192496212069469 Golden starGolden starGolden starGolden starGolden star

There’s something about prosecuting attorney Elle McCoy that Deputy Gabe Dawson just can’t get enough of. Even with Gabe’s family legacy in law enforcement and promising career, Elle’s smart, sassy rejection of all his charm makes Gabe want her even more.

But Gabe’s confidence is shaken when he’s shot on the steps of the courthouse, protecting Elle from a terrorist intent on revenge. Worse, Elle isn’t out of danger yet. But as they race to counter the terrorist’s next move, Gabe determines to prove to Elle—and himself—that he’s a man worthy of her.

I know you can’t get attached to a character so soon. But I did just for that person to become a victim.

In Safe From Harm by Kate Serine, we are introduced to Elle and Gabe.

Elle the prosecuting attorney that refused to be coward by the anti-government nuts. Gabe whose mission in life is to uphold his family legacy of law enforcement. They both believe in justice, and both are on the hit list of the terrorist intent on revenge. Revenge on Gabe for bringing one of their members down and on Elle for prosecuting.

This book was action packed all way through. From Gabe holding his friend who was the latest victim of an anti-government nut. To the last page of the story.

Kate Serine had you feeling like you were on a roller-coaster ride. Fast pace and action packed all tightly bundle into 352 pages of bliss. You would definitely fall in love with these two complex characters.

Shadow Falling (Scorpius Syndrome #2)

cooltext192496212069469 Golden starGolden starGolden starGolden starGolden star

Before the Scorpius Syndrome tore through North America and nearly wiped out the population, Vivienne Wellington was the FBI’s best profiler. The bacteria got her anyway. But she survived. She recovered. And when she woke up from a drug-nightmare of captivity, her trust in her fellow man had gone from shaky at best to nonexistent. Her mysterious rescuer wants to convince her he’s the exception. But no matter how tempting he is, with his angel’s eyes and devil’s tongue, Vinnie knows she shouldn’t trust him.

If the FBI were still around they would rate Raze Shadow as one of the bad guys. His military training can’t wipe out his association with the Mercenaries, the most feared gang in a thousand miles. His loyalties are compromised. He won’t even tell Vinnie his real name. But there’s no FBI in the new America of fear and firepower, only instinct and risk. And the way his arms wrap around her tells its own story. Whatever else Raze is concealing, he can’t hide his desire . . .

If I had to compound a list of dark romances, I would have to add Rebecca Zanetti to the top of list.

In Shadow Falling we continue the saga in her apocalyptic romance. We see what the Scorpius Syndrome has left behind.  I have to say that its bleak for us humans if this ever does happen, between fighting sociopaths and Rippers, the survivors must also contend with the uncertainty that the Earth may never be the same again.

When the world was normal Vivienne had a budding career as one of the top FBI profilers. But when the Scorpius virus ripped through the population, Vivienne was one of many who caught the virus, but she was also one of many for which the virus didn’t turn into a made killer. However, she must struggle with being a survivor and find where she belongs in this new world that has gone mad.

Shadow Falling maintained the same high level of excellence that started in Mercury Striking. This story was well worth the wait…now I must wait to see what Rebecca Zanetti has in store next for our intrepid heroes.

Furious Rush

cooltext192496212069469 Golden starGolden starGolden starGolden star

For Mackenzie Cox, racing motorcycles is in her blood. Born into a family legacy, she’s determined to show the world that she has inherited her father’s talent in this male-dominated sport. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonised by her rival team’s newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Hayden, exceedingly arrogant and outrageously attractive, immediately gets under Kenzie’s skin and she can’t help but be distracted.

As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into an intense – and strictly forbidden – attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie needs a win, and she also needs to stay away from Hayden. Unfortunately for her though, one thing has become all too clear: she can’t.

Fuelled by passion, driven by desire, Hayden and Mackenzie both want to win more than anything else. Except for, maybe, each other. But anger, jealousy and extreme competitiveness aren’t their only obstacles

I was invited to read Furious Rush and since the synopsis sounded interesting I said sure. So on my two week vacation I read this book. I must say that it surprised me that this was a first person narrative. But I must say that the character of Mackenzie “Kenzie” Cox and Hayden actually grew on me. The interaction between these two was hostile at first. But then again the person who makes you angrier the most would be the person whom you come to love the most.

I never been to a NASCAR race, but I have seen the Fast and the Furious. So to me that is what this book reminded me of only instead of cars it was with motorcycles. All in all, Furious Rush was wonderfully written, with a well-developed cast of characters.

Twilight Dreams (Twilight Book #2)

cooltext192496212069469 Golden starGolden starGolden star

Holly Parrish has never met anyone like Micah Ravenwood: his dark eyes, his movie-star smile, the indefinable way he looks at her. Even when she thought he was no more than another client for her investment firm, her lust overpowered her logic.

But she never expected this attraction to whisk her from her busy southern California life to a silent and eerie ghost town in Wyoming. Only vampires call the deserted place home—and one of them is Micah. He says he’s brought her to Morgan Creek for her safety, that vicious creatures are hunting her. But how can Holly trust him? One look and she can see the need barely restrained behind Micah’s polite words. The heat of his kiss, the pleasure of his touch—none of it can tell her whether he wants her as his lover—or his prey . . .

I love all of Amanda Ashley previous vampire stories, so of course I jumped at the chance to read Twilight Dreams. But with a sad heart I have to say that this was a big letdown for me.

In Twilight Dreams Micah Ravenwood was getting over a broken heart after losing the women he loved. He told himself he would never love another human ever again. Until one day, Holly Parrish entered his life.

Holly come to the night club to meet a prospective employee. Mistaking Micah as that client they hit it off, until Micah hand to finally let her know that he wasn’t the gentleman that she was sent to me. However, that didn’t turn her off from liking Micah and wanting to see him again. Until old enemy of Rylan made an appearance and now that enemy has their sights on Holly.

Twilight Dreams was a well-developed story, with a lot of intrigue to boot. But the romance fizzled out as soon as Micah and Holly become a couple. What saved the story for me though was Micah.

I connected with Micah from the start and you couldn’t help but fall in love with him. Micah, Rylan and Kadie saved this story from being a totally snooze fest.

But Amanda Ashley will always be one of the authors I go to for my vampire fix.

Hunt Me was a fun loving adventure, full of mystery and suspense. With a smart, sexy characters that will have you smiling

What I liked about Hunt Me was the banter between Jared and Katherine. The chemistry between these two was felt from the very beginning. Plus, it helped that Katherine nickname was an inside joke “Kit Kate”, if you ever watched the television show Castle you get what I mean.

If you like smart as a whip characters who keeps score, on who out does who, then Hunt Me will be the book that you should add to your reading list this summer.
