First came the floods. Then came the bodies. The victims—strangled, then buried along the shores of the Mississippi—have finally been unearthed, years after they disappeared. He remembers every satisfying kill . . . each woman’s terror and agony. But there’s only one he truly wanted. And fate has brought her within reach again . . .

Jaci Patterson was sixteen when she found the first golden locket on her porch. Inside were a few strands of hair wrapped around a scrap of bloodstained ribbon. Though the “gifts” kept arriving, no one believed her hunch that a serial killer was at work. Now Jaci has returned home . . . and the nightmare is starting once more.

Back then, Rylan Cooper was an arrogant deputy sheriff convinced that Jaci was just an attention—seeking teen. It was a fatal mistake. There’s a murderer in their midst, someone determined to settle old scores and keep playing a twisted game. And it won’t end until Jaci is his forever . . .

****Please be advised, due to what happened in Texas and Louisiana, this book is a work of fiction and not anyway connected to the tragedy happening currently. ****

If you’re looking for action and adventure in Pretend You’re Safe, you would be sadly disappointed. However, what you do get is a nice balance of romance with a suspense thriller.

At sixteen, someone left a golden locket on her front porch, and inside was a blood stain ribbon. After several times of this happen, she went to the police. Could their small town have a serial killer, well leave it up to the local deputy sheriff… Rylan Cooper, they didn’t.

Fast forward a decade later, and a heavy storm. Evidence of the past start washing up, around town.  Now, the nightmare is starting up again.

Pretend You’re Safe was totally different from Alexandra Ivy other stories. This was a great creepy thriller, which would have made a great episode of Murder She Wrote.

A must read for those who enjoy thriller romance.

Lucas St. Clair’s prestigious family had a political future neatly planned out for him—one that didn’t include his high school sweetheart, Mia Ramon. Under their pressure, Lucas gave her up. But since surviving captivity, he’s a changed man—and a crucial member of ARES Security. When he discovers a dead man clutching a picture of Mia that bears a threatening message, his fiercest protective instincts kick in, and he knows he must go to her.

Mia has never forgiven Lucas for breaking her heart, and she’s convinced her feelings for him are in the past. But it’s soon clear that isn’t true for either of them. Now, determined to solve the crime and keep Mia safe, with his ARES buddies backing him up, Lucas will have to reconstruct the murder victim’s last days—and follow a lethal trail that leads right back to the fate of the woman he still loves…

Whereas Kill Without Mercy had me enthralled to see what happens next Kill Without Shame not so much. All through the book I felt that I read this book before. I knew who the culprit was before the person was introduced, and I knew why. The story flowed at a nice pace and the character like in the previous book was developed nicely too. But the mystery behind the attacks on Mia, wasn’t a big secret for me.

Kill Without Shame…if you haven’t read the first book Kill Without Mercy, it’s not a big deal…this title could be read as a standalone without a reading getting lost. But you might want to sooner or later to take advantage of the full entertainment value of the series.

Even though this book didn’t meet the high-quality standards of the first book. I am hoping to finish ARES Security series to see where Alexander Ivy is planning to go with it.

I also know there is one story I want to read about and that might just be the story that might make reading this series worth wild.

Blood Lust (The Sentinels)

Blessed and cursed by their hidden abilities, the Sentinels have no choice but to live, and love, on the edge of humanity…

The Sentinel assassin, Bas, is facing the greatest challenge of his outcast existence. His young daughter, Molly, has been kidnapped. But her disappearance has brought the return of her mother, Myst, whom Bas has never forgotten–or forgiven.

Haunted by a vision that she’s destined to create a weapon that will destroy thousands, Myst was never impulsive–until she met the irresistibly handsome Bas. But with the Brotherhood, the enemy of the high-bloods hunting for her, Myst had to stay on the run, to keep her child, and the world, safe. Now, with the most important thing in both their lives at stake, she and Bas must embark on a treacherous journey to save Molly, to confront the truth of Myst’s fate–and to face their fierce desire for one another.

My Review: Alexandra Ivy has done it again. In her latest installment in her Sentinels series. We finally meet Myst. Her name was well suited for her. She comes and she goes like the myst. However, this time she came to visit her daughter maybe for the last time. Because if she can’t figure out what the weapon that she was going to build which will kill thousands of people. She must find a way to stop herself, even if it’s the last thing she ever does.

But Bas has been trying to forget Myst which is very hard to do when one day she appears. Learning that ever since their daughter Molly was kidnapped Myst has been in contact with her telepathically. Bas being a Sentinel doesn’t trust Myst, but old emotions trumps distrust. Especially when HE learns the news about the reason Myst finally decided to reappear.

This book was fast paced and I have to say you will definitely fall heads over heal in love with Molly.

But even with his considerable skill, Annie’s courage, and his ARES buddies behind him, the slaying won’t stop. Now it’s only a matter of time before Annie’s next–unless they can unravel a history of deadly lies that won’t be buried.

My Review: If you are looking for a totally entertaining book and you enjoy solving mysteries then Alexandra Ivy has a book for you. Kill Without Mercy the first book in Ivy new series, “Ares Security was a great book with a wild mystery to solve. Annie White from a young age was put into the foster system after her father was apprehended as being a serial killer who killed seven women. Now, years later Annie has returned to the town of Newton along with her return several women has turned up missing. Is this the work of a copycat or has the people of Newton arrested an innocent man.

This book will have you guessing well until the end. What I seriously loved about the first installment of this new series was how she laid the ground work for the other men characters.

On The Hunt

On The Hunt by Alexandra Ivy

Mika Tanner has loved Bailey Morrell, a beautiful Healer, since childhood. But his duty as a Sentinel, a supernatural guardian of an ancient race, clashed with her rebellious spirit. Now a dangerous new anarchist group not only threatens life as they know it—but any chance of their being together again…

Scorpius Rising by Rebecca Zanetti

With a deadly disease spreading like wildfire across the country, microbiologist Nora Medina needs to focus all her energy on stopping the pandemic. Playing with dynamite—in the form of her way-too-hot ex—is the last thing she should be doing. But forced to work with Deacan McDougall against unexpected enemies with the seconds ticking by, she knows the explosion is coming…

Phantom Embrace by Dianne Duvall

Immortal Yuri Sokolov was born with the ability to see spirits, yet he’s never seen one as lovely as Cat Seddon, the woman who haunts his home and his dreams. But amid their star-crossed love, a new danger may have Yuri facing a different kind of eternity.

Stake Out by Hannah Jayne

Vampire fashion designer Nina LaShay has a lot on her plate—just two days until fashion week and the model who was flirting with her photographer boyfriend is now a corpse in her studio. But when dead turns into undead and dangerous, Nina must find out who’s responsible…before the beautiful baby vamp takes too many bites out of the Big Apple.

My Take: Outstanding. This collection of books will have you spellbound until the very last page. The book starts with Alexandra Ivy’ Sentinel where Mika was chosen to track down a runaway guardian which leads him on reconnecting with his lost love Bailey who was a healer who likes to follow the beat of her own drum.

In Scorpius…now this book reminded me of Resident Evil. If you like the movie you will totally get behind Rebecca Zanetti new series. It was gripping, an excellent way to start a new series. The first book will always let a reader know what the series is going to be about. I can say that I can’t wait until 2016 to read the next installment.

Now Phantom…Dianne did you really have to do this? You know what I’m referring to. Yuri Sokolov has always had the ability to see spirits, never wanted to acknowledge the spirits, cause of several bad experience with them. However, Cat Seddon, wasn’t your normal every day spirit. She belonged to one of them. Phantom was firing on all cylinders. A heartwarming tale of second chance love and holding onto it before it’s too late.

Hannah Jayne is a new author for me. In Stake Out was written in a first person narrative, with a quirky plot and likable characters.

When Darkness Ends (Guardians of Eternity Series #12) Book Review

What do you get when you put a sultry overbearing vampire with a wise beyond her years fey, excuse me Chatri demon. You get When Darkness Ends. This book is the final installment in the bestselling Guardians of Eternity Series. I can also say Alexandra Ivy saved the best for last.

Most women may be all but powerless against Cyn, but Fallon has his number. It all started when they awaken in Cyn lair to found out the Oracle Commission are being controlled by an unknown source. It’s up to our fair heroes to save the day. Along the way we meet up with some of our longtime friends Stxyx, Viper, Danta and we cannot forget our sexy gargoyle Levet.

This story had everything, Alexandra Ivy truly know how to weave a story from beginning to end. When I turned the last page it felt like I was saying goodbye to a family member.

Darkness Eternal Book Review

Darkness Eternal is a well written book and worth every minute that it took me to read. The latest installment in Alexandra Ivy Guardians of Eternity series, Darkness Eternal takes us on what I thought was a humorous adventure about Uriel and Kata.
Kata was held captive by a vampire for four centuries, and can you say that Kata and her twin sister Marika put the word dys in dysfunctional, since it was her sister that held her captive all of these centuries with no sight of rescue until Uriel was assigned the task by the Victor the vampire leader. It was an assignment that Uriel didn’t want. However, it was an assignment only he could fulfill.
Darkness Eternal can be read as a standalone. However, to get the full effect of this series I advise to start at the beginning.
