Years ago, family loyalty caused Fain Hauk to give up everything he loved: His military career. His planet. His fiancée. Even his name.

Now decades later, everything has changed. He’s built a new life out of the ashes of his old, and he’s vowed to never let anything threaten his loved ones again.

But when old enemies align themselves with new ones, he’s caught in the middle of a brutal war. And when fate throws his former fiancée back into his world and she has her own agenda that includes taking his head for what he did to her years ago, more than just his life is at stake. The fate of the Ichidian universe and that of his brothers-in-arms hangs in the balance. Winner take all.

It’s kill or be killed, and never has the battle been more fierce…

My Review:

What can I say about this book…WOW! Then that doesn’t even describe Sherrilyn Kenyon newest installment in her League:Nemesis Rising series. Born of Betrayal had your emotions going big time. When I read Tayln’s story Born of Defiance I knew I must pick up a copy of Born of Betrayal to see the backstory of Fain and Galene. Their story was unhappy on so many levels. Fain and Galene were to be married when, Fain had to play the playboy to save Gaylene life, it was either to pretend to have an affair or watch Galene suffer with him, while unaware that he was soon to be a father.

Now decades later, Fain is back stronger and ready to claim what was his long time ago. Maybe Fain should have asked first. Because Commander Galene Batur doesn’t seemed so ready to forgive or forget that the man that she loved went and had an affair and later married a human Omiria.

As a single parent myself, I found Galene struggle to raise her son alone knowing that her life will be difficult amidst all the biases in her culture very admirable.

When Commander Galene was offered the promotion of leading a fleet of men to battle the League whose sorn duty is play dictator to the galaxy, she gladly accepted the task. However, no one told her that a flame from the past the one man to truly break her heart would be part of the promotion which was a task all of its own.

I don’t normal give out spoilers but….yep she blasted him, right through the heart. But fortunately he was wearing his good armor.

Born of Betrayal was an excellent blend of action romance, and scenes that will have you reaching for the tissue box. So be worn that Sherrilyn Kenyon Born of Betrayal will have you cheering for the underdog and leaving you panting for more.

Quotes from Born of Betrayal

“War’s lips quivered as tears welled in his eyes. He fisted his hands in Fain’s braids for comfort. ‘It’s Vega…she done threw me out and locked the door. She said she don’t want no man around her ever again and that so long as I have a penis, I can’t come in anymore. I like my penis, Paka, but I love my sister. Do I really have to choose between them? I mean, I guess I’ll choose my sister, but I’d really like to keep them both if I could.”
