    There Be Demons
    by M.K. Theodoratus
    Genre: Urban Fantasy
After her father remarries, Britt Kelly’s life becomes a cesspit. She
lives in her sister’s two-bedroom tenement apartment with her
mother, two brothers, and two young nephews. She starts a new high
school where she knows no one. And, even when Britt thinks she’s
making friends, the church where she studies in is torn down.
Then, the field commanders of The Demon Wars draft her and her friends to
aid the four Gargoyle Guardians who fight the demons invading the
city of Trebridge. The fate of the city hangs on Britt’s ability to
lead and learn enough self-control to manipulate the natural magic of
Grace. Meanwhile, she also needs to decide what to do about Cahal,
her chemistry lab partner who is as strong as her and may have
interests more than just protecting Trebridge.
There Be Demons” is a continuation of M. K. Theodoratus’ urban fantasy,
“Night for the Gargoyles”. It tells the tale of Gillen and
his team of Gargoyle Guardians as they defend Trebridge while
teaching Britt and her friends – the untrained “reinforcements.
Along the way, Gillen and Britt learn things about each other to make
them stronger both together and alone.

I’m one of those weird people who have always played with fantasy. Had a
pretend friend by the time I was three, play acted elaborate
fantasies even after I learned not to talk about them, read comic
books, and discovered Oz, A. L. Merritt, Andre Norton, and Fritz
    Leiber before my teens.
The gears changed to include writing fantasy after the sixth grade. Until
then, mysteries ala Nancy Drew were my favorites. Most of my fiction
writing has been lost through the years. Must admit, though, I still
have the Clue of the Clay Cats, written in the sixth and seventh
grade, sitting in some file drawer.
Many fantasy worlds have entertained me since then…but I’ve only written
in two since I started writing again, aka consistently. My main two
worlds are Andor where demons prey upon humans and other supernatural
events occur and the Marches of the Far Isles. My favorites, though,
are my Far Isles Half-Elven, Renna, Mariah, and Kerry, where I
explore the political ramifications of genetic drift on a hybrid
elf/human population. Unfortunately, my Half-Elven had become a
cliche by the time I completed the 600,000+ words moldering in my
computer. [Which is okay. I mainly write to amuse myself.]
    Currently, live with
my old man and two lap-cats in Colorado. The kids have long flown the
coop. Some of my favorite authors remain Alexander, Briggs, Belcher,
Cooper, Croogon, Pierce, Butcher, Elkins, McCrumb, Gaiman, O’Connell,
    etc. etc. etc.

    Oh, yes, my
pubs. I’ve published shorter fantasy for my Half-Elven, including
Troublesome Neighbors and Vengeance. Andor short stories include
Night for the Gargoyles [which inspired Andor], Showdown at Crossings
[prequel to There Be Demons], Doom Comes for a Sold Soul, and The
Ghost in the Closet. The short stories are both free and 99c.

    Review: Off Limits

    Off Limits by [Connelly, Clare]

Title: Off Limits | Author: Clare Connelly   Publisher: Harlequin Dare
    Genre: Contemporary Romance
    Publication Date: Feburary 1, 2018
    Page Length: 464

“I want to taste you tonight.”

With chemistry this hot, it’s worth getting burned…

Billionaire Jack Grant is totally off-limits to Gemma Picton. He’s wild, deliciously dangerous…and her boss. When working late turns X-rated, it’s better than her wildest imaginings—and Gemma’s imagined a lot! But Jack has major emotional baggage, so when Gemma starts wanting to heal his heart as well as enjoy his body, she knows she’s in big trouble…

Off Limits, penned by Clare Connelly and written in the 1st person narrative was not my cup of tea. Being that this was told in a 1st person narrative, I would have marked this one as a “DNF”. But, just recently I found an author, Melody Johnson, who turned me on to this type of storytelling, did a wonderful job of creating a world with enjoyable characters. But, Off Limits shows that I have far to go to say I enjoy these types of stories.

I try not to give too many one star reviews. There has to be a saving grace to the story that is being told. However, even though I tried, I can’t seriously find anything worth saving about Off Limits.

There are some people that talk in a monotone voice and Off Limits just proves that characters can do the same. It was very hard to understand where this story was going outside the obvious. The two main characters lack any personality or depth, this held true throughout the entire story. To say I didn’t like this story would be an understatement.

I can’t say I would recommend this book to anyone.

Book Blitz: Night Shift (Nightshade #2)

    Night Shift
    Carey Decevito
    (Nightshade, #2)
    Publication date: January 9th 2018
    Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense

    A serial killer…

A past that haunts no matter how much the distance…

    Which one will strike first?

Eighteen deaths over eight years has left Shane Peters itching to find his mark. The death that started it all ensured his obsession with the murderer who had turned his life into a living hell, leaving him to raise a newborn daughter on his own.

Starting over wasn’t the easiest thing, but Emberlyn Roth had managed by shear grit and the skin of her teeth. It’s too bad one can’t outrun their past.

A protector of the wronged, Shane is torn between his duty as a detective for the Jacksonville PD and a quest to find himself some peace. Red tape binds his capabilities and moonlighting as an investigator for Nightshade Securities has him feeling stretched thin. Late nights on the streets and his sense of duty keeps him from being the father he wants to be. Throw onto his already rickety house of cards, an attraction to the mysterious Emberlyn, the lead he’s got on the murderer he’s been hunting for nearly a decade, and threats his woman is receiving by an unsavory character from her past, and he’s seriously tempted to take Dalton Kipper’s offer to join his team in a permanent basis.

Rules have a place, but when you’re faced with losing the one that means most to you, lines can become blurred. With the fate of his family’s future hanging in the balance, he’s ready to risk it all.

“What are you doing here?” The tension around me palpable, she hurried aside to let me enter before closing the door behind us.

    My blood boiled.

My skin crawled that she’d let him do that to her.

I had to get rid of it.

    The taint.

    Purify her.

“What have you done? You’re mine, Evie. I told you, when I came back, you’d be mine and now look at yourself.” Disgust was as clear in my voice as it was in my expression.

“Wh-whatever it is…we can talk this out,” she stuttered, her feet inching her backward as I followed her movements.

Reaching to the small of my back, my fingers wrapped around the grip as I pulled it from its sheath. The eight-inch blade caught the glint of the afternoon sun, mesmerizing me, causing me to admire the play of light against it before I focused on the woman before me.

Her eyes shone with terror. “You don’t…” She shook her head left to right, swallowing hard, stumbling against the side table next to the sofa. “You don’t have to do this.” She righted herself. “We can still be together. Now that…now that you’re back–”

I shot her an incredulous look. Did she think me a fool? “You’ve gone and done the unthinkable. You had his child!” I hollered, my knuckles gripping the knife tightly. “This is the only way…the only way to get rid of the stain.”

    Her steps froze momentarily. “Stain?”

“It’s what I should have done a while ago,” I spat, cornering her as her steps were halted by the wall at her back. “What you took from me…what should have been mine,” I raged, “is what I’ll take from you.”

One moment my eyes darted toward the hallway where I knew the devil lay in slumber, and the next, Eva Peters was making a mad rush toward the door that separated me from saving us all.

    “No!” she panted. “You’re crazy!”

If she only knew. “Move, Evie,” I growled, “it’s the only way.”

“She’s not here. Please!” Tears streamed down her face, her body shaking with fear.

Using the tip of the blade, I ran it over her soaked cheek, the metal sharp enough to catch on her ivory skin, causing a streak of blood to suddenly materialize.

    I felt lighter instantly.

In control. A feeling I hadn’t had in quite some time.

Manning my knife, I proceeded to run the tip of it down to her bottom lip, nicking it just enough for another bubble of her essence to form.

“Mmm…” I groaned, leaning forward to press my front against hers, taking the time to lick her damaged lip, then whispered my new realization while rubbing my impossibly hard cock against her stomach. “I was wrong. This…” I ran my finger through the blood on her cheek, watching its movement, “is what I need, Evie.”

The sadness was overwhelming as I stared at the beauty laying limp and lifeless beneath me.

The rage I’d felt had all but dissipated with each slice of my blade through her flesh. Like a hot knife through butter, each time blood began to pour out, a weight lifted within me.

What once held pleading in her eyes, was now long gone.

She was nothing but a piece of art, trussed up by her silk scarves, a vessel conveying my message.

    I’d be back…

Title: Judgment Road| Author: Christine Feehan |  Series: Torpedo Ink #1

    Page Length: 464

An outlaw motorcycle club sets up shop next door to Sea Haven in the dangerously sexy new series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan.

A brutal education in a Russian training facility for assassins has taught this group of men one thing:

It’s a long road to redemption.

As the enforcer of the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club, Reaper lives for riding and fighting. He’s a stone-cold killer who turns his wrath on those who deserve it. Feelings are a weakness he can’t afford–until a gorgeous bartender gets under his skin…

Near Sea Haven, the small town of Caspar has given Anya Rafferty a new lease on life. And she’s desperate to hold on to her job at the biker bar, even if the scariest member of the club seems to have it out for her. But Reaper’s imposing presence and smoldering looks just ratchet up the heat.

Anya’s touch is everything Reaper doesn’t want–and it brands him to the bone. But when her secrets catch up to her, Reaper will have to choose between Anya and his club–his heart and his soul.

After possessing nearly all of Christine Feehan’s titles I am totally amazed how she integrates intrigue, suspense, and romance. In her latest title Judgment Road, the first book in her new series Torpedo Ink, published under Berkley Publishing Group brand (Jan 23, 2018). Proves why Christine Feehan is a bestselling Author.

Torpedo Ink is an MC made up of 18 men and women, who had survived a horrendous life and banded together to bring down the men and women who tortured them.
At an early age, Reaper was trained to be an assassin. At the age of five, he put those deadly skills to use, along with his brothers and sisters to escape captivity. Now, he utilizes his skill to protect their leader Vicktor “Czar“ Prakenskii. Though he and the others have been free, for some time, it has been hard for Reaper to let go of the past. But when he spots the new bartender, he is hit with an overwhelming attraction that Reaper knows that the only way to save Anya was to have Czar dismiss her.

Anya a woman of mystery, who bartends for Torpedo Ink. She stays to herself and doesn’t make waves. Unfortunately for her, she caught the eye of Reaper. But when trouble from Anya past buttheads with her present, she is glad that she has the men and women of Torpedo Ink willing to protect and dispose of the danger that comes calling.

Judgment Road, an inspiring tale, filled with angst, and hot erotic instants…like all of Christine Feehan stories, you can’t help but fall in love with the characters and the world that she created.
